This place sucks...

I just have to rant for a little bit. This lab I'm working in sucks. More to the point, the doctors that do their cases here are some of the worst physcians I've ever had the displeasure of working with. Their skills are marginal and their bedsire manner is atrocious. I can see why they have such a hard time keeping a full time staff, this is a very abusive work environment. On top of that, since this is a single, low risk lab, they schedule all of their cases in the evening. In essence, I get here at 6 in the morning and have to wait around until 3:30 in the afternoon to start doing anything. I won't get out of here until at least 9 or 10 pm tonight. Its been this way for the past 4 days, the only saving grace is that I'm a traveler, only have 6 weeks left and I'm racking up some serious overtime. Its gonna be a long 6 weeks though. I know Caballa can relate to this, the money may be good, but at what cost. There's alot of mental anguish and stress in a cath lab, throw in some abusive docs and it can be downright dangerous.
This lab doesn't have enought staff to cover the call schedule, so they put me on-call 24 days this month, I'll be a raving lunatic by the end of November me thinks. I almost shit a brick when I got called in last night at midnight to do an elective permanent pacemaker implant

, then had to be here at 6 am, that really sucked. I'm needing a RedBull IV right now just to stay awake...

Got to go, my next vict... err, patient just arrived...
