I don't know how many people are in Georgia...specifically the North Atlanta area. Well, I got a job with this Kennel/Training Facility by my house. 'Man's Best Friend'. So I go for my first day on the job, and everything starts out just fine. I loove dogs, so I was so happy that I got a job working with dogs.
Well I have a 3 year old Boxer, so I am very fond of Boxers, well the girl tells me to go check on the puppy in Isolation, its a boxer. I go into the room and I see this 8 week old puppy, who is very sick with a HORRIBLE upper respiratory infection, distemper? Well not only is this puppy sick, I could see every single bone and joint in this dogs body. It was absolutely SICKENING. And it was hard for me to not start bawling right then and there.
So this couple comes to drop their german shepherd off, and the girl who was training me gets the dog and the dog is freaking out because his owners were leaving well, she jerks the dog up by his leash to the point he falls down onto his hip bone. As we are walking the dog back to check him in, she tells me that if I am walking a dog and its pulling on me or won't pay attention to me to jerk the dog off the ground by its leash for 3 seconds and then to let go...it shocks the dogs and knocks some sense into them.
I'm sorry isnt that like...................abuse?
Well and Atlanta cop came to see about training his personal dog, well one of the guys was walking a Rottwieler and when the Rotty saw the cops shepherd he went after it trying to play. Well the guy walking the rotty grabs him, and literally THROWS him to the ground and gets on top of him. The cop yelled at the guy and told him that he was going to have him arrested for animal cruelty.
So we get to the bathing part of my training, and she shows me how to just spray the dogs like they are inatimate objects. I'm sorry I am NOT going to spray a dog in the face with a water hose.
Sadly it doesn't end there....I have never NEVER in my life seen people mistreat animals like this.....

I can't stand people who treat animals (especially dogs) like trash, even though I have been "attacked" by a pitbull mix...owner's fault for abusing it so much

I felt like killing the stupid lady rather than the dog - lol

Im sorry but that is abuse. Absolutly, and the animal abuse division of the police department need to know about it. the person triaing you needs to be fired and needs to have animal cruelty charges pressed against them.

the way they are doing things is a very very crude form of training/dicipline.

If it were me i would call the police and file an animal abuse report. You can NOT be fired over such an action if you dont allow them to.

Do the owners of the place realize this is going on? If they just own it and dont see to the day to day operations they might not realize what is going on. If they do know, and they do condone such behavior to the dogs then they also need to have charges of animal abuse pressed against them and have thier business shut down.

There are ways to handle any situation with a dog that do not involve abuse. Dogs do not think like people at all, they sort of have "Modes" that they are in. Rest mode, explore mode, fight mode, submission mode, etc, etc. the trick to getting dogs to do what you want is to get them in the mode you wish them to be in. simple movements, jesters, stuff like that are more than adequate for normal dog training scenarios, and any seasoned dog trainer will agree.

if they are training for police and stuff like that, the training is a lot less polite and sometimes might injur a dog, however, they are beign trained to take down fleeing suspects and need to be able to focus on thier target despite the chaos surrounding them, as well as toughen them physically and psychologically. However, being starved, sprayed in the face with a hose, etc, are not acceptable means regardless of the training program.

The only acceptable time to physically harm a dog is if you are defending yourself or somebody else from the dogs attack. other than that, there are far more effective methods of training. Beating the dog when the dog does something wrong, well, the dog really doesent usually know what it has done wrong.

dogs and humans do not think alike at all. they need to know that and treat the dogs appropriatly or have thier kennel shut down for animal abuse.

I know what you mean mine doesnt bark much only when someone is at the door but she runs and gets excited around something she want or if you say it.

Well believe me I called ALL of the news stations, and the animal humane society....It was literally ALL i could do not to break down before i got home. I couldn't even tell my mom what happend i was so upset.
I really.....really hope that none of those people have kids because anyone who can beat a defenseless dog can beat a kid. I've watched animal cops on Tv, and you think "I hope I never have to see that" and I had to witness it.
I woke up to a guy breaking into my house one night last year, and seeing people treating these dogs like this was WORSE than getting broken into. And that is BAD. I mean what kind of person beats a dog? And these idiots were so CLUELESS!!! One set of owners were like, "I don't know why Fido is so aggressive" Hell I know why! These people are beating your dog!!!!! These are pictures of my puppy, she is my world! I am a really sweet girl, but hurt my dog!!!!!!

I would yanked her by the neck for 3 seconds and ask how the **** she likes...

I woulda threw the kid w/ the rotty on the ground and stepped on him and asked how the **** he liked it...

then I woulda gotten fired and maybe arrested and woulda busted all the poor animals out...

shit like this pisses me off and I got no tolerance for it...

a few years back this kid was at my house... kicked my dog (not hard)... and I beat the shit out of him... i mean that literally... he actually shit himself...
