This thread is cracking me up! I also think flowmaster sucks azz....I think they are the exhaust of the past and just about every catback system on the market out performs them....with that said, I will admit they sound pretty good....but that's it.

FYI Nascar doenst use mufflers at all guys. Its long tubes,crossover pipe, and then out some balogne cut pipes.

And flowmasters do suck ass everything has them i hav esen them on airboats,trucks,semi's,scooters,imports,hookers,wh eel chairs etc... If i want to sound like a chevy or any other truck on the road i would get flows.

But i wouldnt because they dont flow well and they suck dick. But thats just me.

I never stated flows were the greated exhaust, all i said is that you dont lose power adding flows to your stock CB. Im a big borla fan.

But many stock car races that DO require mufflers use flows.

if you wanted to sound like a chevy, you would get slp. but i have flows, not sayin they are the best. i just like the deep tone. but yes i do wish it was a little louder

uhhh....my comment wasn't directed at anything you or anyone else said, I just was stating my opinion. So far I've been a huge magnaflow fan, but I love the way Borla sounds....just kinda expensive, but great quality. :beerchug:

add some o/r pipes to that (if you dont have them already) and they will get annoying loud...but not as annoying as slp...lol but flows drone so bad when just cruising...is that just my friends setup or do they all drone (if you have o/r pipes)??

ive got a catted bbk. at about 2 grand it drones good. its nice to hear at first, but if you keep it there goin like 75-80 when on the highway it gets kinda annoying. but if i was to open the throttle all the way, you can here me from a really good distance (but then again what v8 stang with aftermarket exhaust cant you hear from a good distance).

yes the drone is bad from 2200-2400 rpms on my car. thats such a tiny rpm range that im never in it long enough for it to bother me..and i run an o/r x.

I shouldnt back up flows as much as I do really..because I've been looking to get some aero chamber mufflers for a while now...ever since I heard MCM's car. I just dont think ANY cat back for our cars sucks...except for slp.

my friend put flows on his civic, DONT DO IT. just keep the exhaust stock, thats your best bet

A) Flowmasters do suck, everyone has them, they are garbage. Not only do they flow like ****, but they have ****ty quality, and dont even back up there work.

B) if you think exhaust is all about sound, you mine as well sell your mustang you freaking ricer. If i ever had anyone go "yea they are starving me of a few horsepower but damn that sound is worth it" I would laugh in there face and walk away.

My exhaust philosophy?

Get the biggest, least restrictive straight through muffler without being illeagle to drive, then cut off the tailpipes and call it a day

2-3 hp is not worth a crappy sounding exhaust.

In the right application a good exhaust vs. a bad exhaust can mean a lot more then 2-3hp :moreboost:

IF your running Turbos. thats the only real case.

its not all the same..thats the point isnt it? its about sound...you like it or you dont.

on your car, being a turbo beast...I can see how the least restrictive exhaust matters.

on an s/c car or N/a...catbacks are about sound...not power. you will never feel 2-5 HP. even 10 is a long shot to really "feel"

ppl hate flows because other people like them...the flow difference is so minor that it doesnt matter on 95% of the cars on the road.

there are so many thing in this world that are good, but people hate them because they are popular.

and because they are of poor quality.

I hear that alot...I have had them on 3 different cars/trucks now...never had ANY issues with quality from them. why do you think they are of bad quailty?

well they have bad factory warentee, i cant remember if its like a 1month warente or if there isnt one at all. They rot out and rust apart.

Last time i went to a muffler shop i went and was like look i need 2 mufflers 2.5 in 2.5 out. The guy goes "we sell magniflow and flowmaster, if you want the flowmasters we can do that but the magniflows will warentee better, and odds are the flowmasters will start to rust out after a year or so"

this comming from a guy who sells them . . . .

Maybe the quality problem is augmented by the fact that i live in florida and we have a lot of salt in the air i duno.
