2004 V6 radio harness
Alright fellaz, I just got done reading all of the posts in this section and I didn't find the answer to my question:
Has anyone ever found a '03 Mach headunit (while installing) in a stock 2004 Mustang V6?
Well, I did (at least I'm 99% sure I did)!
I'm giving my brother in law my old Panasonic deck and installing it for him as a Christmas present. So, today I went to my local audio dealer and picked up the Metra 99-5026 TurboKit bracket (to hold the deck) and had the guy get me the wiring harness...he came back and gave me the Metra 70-5520. I told him that the car didn't have the Mach460 stereo and he said it's all the same. So, I connect the wires, pull off the bezel, unscrew the factory radio, disconnect the harness from the radio and...."Oh sh*t! What's this?" I said to myself. The flippin connector is from a pre-2004 model! I don't know all the differences, but after searching the web the last few hours everyone has pointed to the 70-5520 harness for '04 models (mind you, not once did I read about a V6...just GT). So on the Metra website, I do a product search for 2003 Mustang and sure enough, there's the wiring harness I need!! It's the 70-1771!!!! How do I know? Well, because the 71-1771 is the exact same connector coming from the car lol! So now I have to cut the wires to seperate the harnesses and the pre splice each end of the Metra harness I bought from the dealer to make it look like I never used it haha.
It was shocking and confusing but I though I would share this unofficial V6 documentation with you all.
Happy Holidays!
BTW, here's a shot of that trunk lid mat I got from here (shot with a Razor V3...car's a lil dirty, I know...it rained that morning):
