Dual is ok. Pioneer subs are ok too. If you had some Alpine Type-R or E's, those would be badass. Alpine, Kicker, and RF make some badass subs. Your set-up will definatly bump, but depending on your sub box you may have some distortion. Do you have a sealed box or ported?

wow..u must really be new to all this...you will be fine with playing a cd player...as long as the quality of the song is ok (non-downloaded for Limewire or anything)also..the way the speakers usually get distorted is because ur playing it too loud and it cant handle the load

Also, make sure you run the other 2 channels through a crossover first, otherwise it'll sound like crap and also destroy your woofers over time.

Dual sucks, and to be honest your whole setup is going to suck. What you need is an Alpine HU, run the 4 speakers off that, then get a mono sub amp and connect it to your HU's line out. Hook up one 10" Alpine Type E (or R if you're the kind of guy who wants to look like a badass with your trunk shaking and the whole world hearing nothing but the bassline of the particular shitty Top 40 song you're listening to).

The problem with your current setup is that you'll only have 2 speakers instead of 4, and your bass won't be in balance or be able to keep up if you turn up the volume at all.

+1. If you don't know what you're doing then have someone that does set it up. You don't want to wire it wrong or do anything wrong because you blow your subs or fry your amp and you have to get a new one.

I wouldn't say your set up sucks. You've obviously gone the cheap route which isn't the best when it comes to audio because if you want bump you need to buy good ****. It'll probably sound good inside the car when it's not up too load, but you won't be able to hear it much outside of the car and if you crank it up to where you can, it'll probably be distorted because Pioneer subs aren't all that great and neither is your amp.

what are you talking about?

I ran 4 pioneer speakers off my pioneer headunit... and ran the 2 subs off the amp...

Sounded fantastic... speakers were no where near as loud as the subs... but you could still hear my tunes from 50ft away

no dude...

its a 60x4 something or other headunit...

the guy at the audio shop said it would be fine for my speakers... so did my brother, and my best friend that has a $10,000 + system in his lincoln...

I turn volume all the way up and speakers sound great...

I always have to lower the bass cause it vibrates the **** outa my car...

If its a good headunit and good speakers and installed correctly It will sound fine...

My only complaint was that it wasnt loud enough... lol...

uh.... When I bought the car it had no speakers... only thing in there sound wise was a pioneer headunit...

I am told its a good one... not a great one...

But it sounded great at all volumes...

I honestly no nothing about car audio... but I do know that my head unit ran straight to the speakers and it sounded good... it just wasnt loud enough...

on the other hand... the speakers were ****in expensive...

If I was to buy everything NEW and not get all the friend discounts I got... I would have spent over 2,000 bucks for the system...

SO Im pretty sure evrything is decent to good quality...

Maybe you can accept the fact that it is possiblefor a headunit to speaker set up sounding nice...

then again, i might just be a lot pickier about audio quality
another thing that may take a toll is that I run all the bass to the subs... the speakers play little to no bass at all...

But trust me it sounded fantastic...

I would recomend you buy an amp for your speakers regardless since they wont be able to compete with the subs
