Hey, evening everyone!

Just wanted to see what insights you all had on the use of a PowerWasher to wash the body, windows, and wheels of my Mustang, whether from first-hand experience, or from people you may know that have done it in the past.
Any Pros and/or Cons for using one?

 

absolutely none if the washer is below 1800psi. Just use it on the wide spray and do not go to a sharp stream.

Car washes round my parts all have powersprayers.

I wash cars everyday including my own with a pressure washer. Funny you mention this today though. I was at work and a co-worker shot the nozzle tip off one, through the side of a back window on a cobalt SS, and it bounced off the rear deck and came out the other side. lol. It sounded like a gunshot with no glass sound effect. The guy was looking around on the ground for the tip and i was like dude you just shot it through the window. he looked up and had the most scared look on his face. haha. dont let that deter you from using one because thats the only time ive seen that happen in years. we had a loose locking mechinism on the tip for whatever reason. Ours is like 1500 psi with a 30 degree tip.

 

take your wheels off the car and power wash em...

I do it all the time... I have also used it to clean the engine...

don't use it on paint if you care about it... you don't need it

 

DO NOT use it on an engine. If you clean your engine you want to use the lowest pressure possible and the least about of water.

 

meh ive powerwashed my engine dozens of times w/ no problems

 

ive done it probably over 1000 times to various cars. No problems yet. as long as you dont float the alternator or fuse box, youll be alright.

 

Well its not recommended by pro detailers so.... With a power washer you really are forcing water where it doesnt belong. Look what happened to Blake.

yeah those 1 out of 1 million bad stories really top the 999,999 that arent bad. Im a pro detailer, and I dont see the problem with it. Its user error over equipment error in 99.999999% of all cases.

 

Well everyone has their own opinion. Ive always been told not to do it and it makes sense to me why not to. So thats how Ill continue to do it. Good luck.
