Default Nitrous help

I read the sticky and a couple other posts, but couldn't find what I was looking for. The car I'm looking to buy already has a kit hooked up, of course I'm not just going to run around spraying all the time if I spray at all. I know nothing about it though and was wanting a basic how to on preparing to spray and everything else that I need to know. it has a NX ford EFI kit with purge running a 100 shot, that's all the information I have on the kit. it's a 5 speed also.

Your going to have to do a few things to check the car before I ever would flip that switch.

Here are a few things you need to do before hand:
You must only run 93 octane fuel when spraying, this is a must!!!!
You need to pull the spark plugs and see what the car has in them. As you can't just spray nitrous on any plug.
You need to pull the nitrous and fuel jet out and make sure it is in fact a 100shot.
You need to check the system and make sure it has no leaks.
You need to make sure everything works. IE with the car off and the key in the on positon make sure both solinoids click when the pull the throttle cable all the way to WOT.
And you need to know if they car has a tune or comes with a tuner. You do not want to spray with advanced timing such as found in performance tunes that are not setup for nitrous.

That's all I got off the top of my head right now. But having the correct plugs, and running 93 octane are the two biggest ones for sure.

I guess I won't have to worry about it, 91 octane is the highest that is sold around here. Not sure about plugs but they said everything else was able to handle it, the owner has taken it to the track and ran it on the 100 shot and also had it dyno tuned with custom tunes for the motor and another for the nitrous. I definitely will double check everything if I decide to ever run it

That's all I would run in the car too. Also I was wanting to know the best time to spray, like what gear and at what rpms, and if there is anything I need to do right before I spray.

This is all true but when you test the solenoids make sure the bottle is Off/Disconnected as you don't want nitrous injected into the engine when it isn't running.

You just need to double check everything. I would not trust someone elses work over my own any day. You just need to run the highest octane you can get at the pump for where you live IE 91 or 93. Once its all checked out go take it for a run, you will love it.

You only want to spray nitrous above 3k rpms in whatever gear you start out in. So never below 3k ever no matter the gear or if your stopped or moving. You can spray in any gear and through any gear other then 5th gear. So you can use it when your stopped or rolling around at whatever speed. Just pick a gear that puts you at least at 3k rpms before you go WOT with the nitrous kit on and let it rip. Also don't powershift on the bottle.

i would have him take it to a dyno, or to the track and sit in and watch him activate the system.....that way if it blows/breaks anything, it does it before you have given him any money.

i have known of guys that will throw together a system from old/extra parts just so thye can raise the price of a car they are selling.

It's been dyno tuned with separate tunes for the motor and nitrous, he was supposed to be getting a fresh tune last week. I won't make him do that cause that's not the reason I'm buying it, since it does have it already in it though I would like to look into checking all of it and learning about it.

Thanks for the info Spike, so that's all you do? I read something about arming it and some other stuff but it wasn't detailed enough to explain it. also what is WOT too? I have no knowledge on any of this.

WOT stands for wide open throttle. Every kit comes with some sort of WOT switch which activates the nitrous only when you are at WOT. As you would not want to spray the nitrous when you are not at WOT.

What kit is on the car anyhow? got any photos of the bottle, nozzle location, some wiring, the solenoids, and the WOT switch?

that's the only pictures I have of it, and the only information I have of the kit is NX ford EFI kit with purge (15lb. bottle same color as the car).

Um, that car is badass. You never said it was a cammed Mach1 with nitrous and who knows what other sweet **** done to it. Looks like someone knew what they were doing and set that car up right. Nothing seems out of the ordinary to me. Does it have a fuel pressure gauge on the car? Cause I see a sender on the fuel rail for that or a fuel cut off switch.

Oh man this car is insane, I saw it about a month ago and fell in love, I figured it would be long gone by the time I could buy it though. Now it's less than 2 weeks until I can get it, been talking to the owner a lot and everything is right on track. Here's all the mods
22,xxx miles
Crower stage III cams
Crower valve springs and reatiners
NX ford EFI kit with purge (15lb. bottle same color as the car)
Focus fuel pump
Lightning mass air meter
php intake spacer
C&L intake tube and shaker adapter
SCT X-cal 2 one tune for motor and one for nitrous (Tuned by Dynospeed Racing)
MGW shifter
Centerforce dual friction clutch
BBK longtubes and off road h-pipe (with cutout's)
Flowmaster cat back
4:10 gears
Eaton Posi
Moser 31 spline axles
Steeda upper and lower control arms
D&D K-member and bump steer kit
Speed Of Sound dual pillar pod with Raptor shift light
Magnum 500's 18x 10.5/18x9 with BFG DR 295's on rear and BFG KD 265's on front
Canton overflow tank
Powdercoated valve covers, coil covers, shaker bracket, and C&L tube.
Shorty antenna.
White Hurst ****
Smoked headlights with clear corners and foglights
Bullitt side skirts
Painted smooth gas tank cover with aluminum straps
10th anniversary door pulls
CDC honeycomb tailpanel (with red letters)
CobraJet emblems
The car dynoed 355hp and 343tq on motor and 455hp and 480tq on 100 shot
The car has seen 12.6's @ 112 on motor (me at my one and only time ever)
11.45 @ 122.53 on 100 shot(previous owner)

Here's recent pics http://s73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...2006/?start=40

says it has the Speed Of Sound dual pillar pod, not sure which gauges are in it but more than likely one is fuel pressure.

I'd download NX's install manual from their website and print a paper copy....so, atleast you know the wiring schematics and jet sizes, etc for the future.

He's asking 18,000 for it. One hell of a deal if you ask me. The guy is real car enthusiast so there is no doubting that every single thing done to this car has been done professionally.

It looks like a really solid car with solid mods done by someone who knows what he wanted and what he was doing. Price is solid for sure.

For sure. First mods I'm going to do as soon as I get it is hood struts, custom gas door, and sequential tail lights. been saving for awhile and will more than likely order all of the stuff as soon as I get it. I'm sooooooo stoked to say the least.

That's a lot of car so I hope you have owned a fast car before cause if you have not its easy to loose control and get in over your head.

Take some photos of that thing once you get it.

Yeah I'll definitely have to take it easy, it's the fastest car I've ever driven or rode in. that's the first thing I'll do is take pictures, I wish I had a garage to keep it in, the best i'll be able to is cover it every night and I'm either keeping it in a relatives garage during the winter season or getting a storage unit to keep it in.

Unfortunately not yet, but the chance that I get it is very very high. It's a week and 2 days until I can finalize the deal.
