Talking Question for all you ZEX guys?

So im pretty damn happy about getting my zex wet kit in today thanks to fed-ex ground lol. The instructions list a couple of ways to tap into the fuel source( sharder valve, supply hose, drilling and taping the fuel rail) Just wanted to know what some of you guys did and which would work best for the stang. Im also trying to figure out were I want to mount the bottle, how bout some pics on a couple of setups yall have so I can get a better idea of what i want.

schrader valve or separate fuel system (I prefer to use a separate fuel system with a 1gallon tank full of 100 octane race gas sent in via a dedicated pump. Looks massively cooler and lets you deliver the fuel without dropping pressure on your rail.

Mount the bottle in the trunk facing valve forward on the passenger side. if you have a rear seat delete then don't forget to include a blowdown tube. Put the battery on the driver side or in the spare tire well and put the aux fuel system where the batter used to be. Don't keep gas in the little tank unless you plan on using it.

yeah thats a great idea using a separate fuel tank, do they make tanks specialy for the stock battery location?

Also were do they sell these fuel tanks?

They sell them at summit or ebay. Just look for a 1 gallon drag tank that'll fit the space you have. There'll be some fabrication but nothing too substantial. You can also install in any number of other locations. The trunk is a possibility but similar bracketry work is still a good idea.

Having a fuel tank under the hood isn't necessarily unsafe. If it's a good tank and it's mounted inside the frame then there's a reasonable amount of safety. If there's an accident large enough to become a fuel spill problem then the injector rail has almost certainly already broken leaking some fuel and you're having a bad day anyway. If it's a major concern then a 500 dollar 3 nozzle fire system is an easy install.

I don't know what your planning to run nitrous shot wise, but for a simple 100shot (which i would guess your gonna do) you can just tap the fuel shrader valve like everyone else and get fuel from there. The separate fuel system is sweet, but not needed for a 100shot. And like red said bottle should face forward unless you have the MACH1000 system like me then you have to mount it sideways which also works fine.

you can pretty much always count on me to go 30% overboard. I just have this thing about tapping my schrader. Personal preference.

Yeah the MACH1000 has 2 10" subs and a monster amp rack. Its nice and all and sounds great for a stock setup (im not a stereo guy at all). But it takes up half the trunk. Thats why its mounted in front of the MACH setup as i cant put it behind it. Plus i have very little space for the trunk as is.

How is the bottle facing the wrong way? It doesnt have to be front to back. That is the Ideal way, but sideways is also fine and works. So not to sure how its mounted wrong.

didnt know that the mach1k had the rack in the trunk. I like my 1 sub in the truck box and amp mounted on the back of the seats. You ever though of taking it out?

Naw i am not gonna take it out, im going to keep the interior and extra's on the car always. I wont ever strip this one down to a full out race car.

its hard to tell from the pic but i have maybe a 1/2 foot behind that amp rack to where the seat goes when its up. So it was wasted space anyhow thats why the bottle is perfect in that spot. But back on topic.

"Bottle Placement is critical to the performance of your NOS nitrous system. It is important to understand how the bottle valve and siphon tube are assembled to properly orient the bottle in your vehicle and ensure it picks up liquid nitrous while undergoing acceleration. All NOS nitrous bottles are assembled so that the bottom of the siphon tube is at the bottom of the bottle and opposite the bottle label"

"If the bottle is mounted vertically, the valve handle and label must face toward the front of the vehicle. This orientation will position the siphon tube at the back of the bottle where the liquid n2o will be during acceleration"

There are a few problems with this.

1-I don't have a NOS brand kit mines from compucar. So this doesn't matter.

2-The compucar bottles have the pickup tube face down the same as where the valve is that lets the nitrous out of the bottle. The bottom.

3-You do not need to mount the bottle sideways as once it gets low and you hit it from a dig the pick will not be in liquid nitrous and will just give you a nice bog or if your lucky a backfire. Mounting this way keeps it in the bottom where the most liquid nitrous is present.
