Default Vortech oil drain install.....

This must be the most challenging part of the install. Does anyone have any tips before I get started punching a hole in this oil pan? Should I drain the engine oil before I punch the hole? So I use the very small punch to actually make a small hole, then use the larger one to expand it, and tap slowly? Do I add silicone to the threads on the fitting and hope it doesnt leak?

My bonestock 2v engine had been through 2 years of NX 100 shot, 3 years running 8-12lbs vortech s-trim, got into boost daily while racing on the weekends, had 157,000 miles on it, and was running like new

word, start small and work your way up. becareful not to hit the crank like i did. drain the oil afterwards. if you get some clean threads then you shouldnt have to worry about leaks since the fitting doesnt allow any leaks. to be on the safe side just get some leak lock, it should be blue. i used some black rtv but i dont know how long it will last. i'll most likely have a built short block by then. good luck and i dont know what sizes i used either.

Leave the oil in then drain it out. This is really not that hard trust me. They make a special bit that throws it somewhat the opposite way. That is what i used it worked awesome. I had very little chips in the pan. Then i ran kerosene through and then some new oil to clean that out just to make sure i got it all out of the oil pan.
