I Can Haz New Car?
So this is the replacement for my Audi. Picked it up a few weeks ago, but I've been too lazy to do a post on it . 1966 Ford Fairlane 500 with a newer 5.0 and the 4 speed trans from an '89 Crown Vic. Anyways.. I love it. It's dangerous to drive and the 600 mile ride back from Missouri in the pouring rain nearly killed me, but it's fun just the same. The pic below was actually taken by the previous owner. I have a bunch of pics that I took after buying it, but I have yet to upload them to a site. Tell me what you think.. BTW, I decided to name her Valerie. Mainly because she's a crazy bitch, just like Black Sunshine

That thing brings back a lot of memories. I think that was a much better buy than the 69 you were looking at. CONGRATS!
PS Fire engine RED or BLACK or maybe "PINK" now that you know who has changed.
We need more pics ASAP

Thanks guys . It's a carb'd 5.0 with a 4 barrel, intake, mild cam, long tube headers, and a 2.5" exhaust that ends right under the rear seat. It's loud as hell . It was an original power steering and AC car, but neither are hooked up since it has the serpentine belt setup from the 5.0. It has drums at all four corners, and they are manual. Not exactly the safest setup. That's one of the things I plan on changing should the money become available, as well as the loose steering. I'm considering saving up the $2500 for the Heidts front suspension setup, because that will give me more room in the engine bay, power rack and pinion steering, and a Baer front disc setup. I'm still debating that one. Anyways, wheels are Boss somethings. Fronts are 18" and the rears are 20". As for the paint Tuff, I plan on doing satin black. I've always loved the look of satin black on classic cars, especially when they have big wheels with low-profile tires (like the one below from a post a while back.)

I think you mean 60's car . And Zip on the trip back home it was getting 19-20mpg. It's actually a pretty good cruiser, since it has a trans with OD and a 3.00:1 rear end. As for around town, it's hard to tell since I don't drive very far (it's about a mile to work.) Probably somewhere around 10-12mpg.

Gorgeous car, man. You going to take it to shows?

Maybe after I fix a few things (like the torn front seat) I'll take it to shows. But for now it's just going to be my DD. And yeah, I'm serious about the name. I thought of it after driving the car for only a few miles. That's how insane this thing is to drive

DOOO EEET! Driving an old car is hella fun, unless you're one of those weird "safety conscious" individuals. Just be prepared to answer questions every time you stop for gas

And that's too damn cool about the name. That made me smile. My sister is pregnant and just found out that she is finally having a girl. She decided to name it after me. First a baby, now a car. ******' awesome.

Are the seats cloth or leather? You should take some interior pictures for us.

Good, you'd better! If the tear isn't big, you could use a vinyl repair kit. But, I'm assuming that it must be pretty large if it keeps you from wanting to put it into shows.
What are you going to tell people when they ask you why you named her "Valerie"? "Um, I named her after this crazy-***, insane bitch on Mustangboards.com".

That's nuttin'. I did 1200 miles round trip to get this car. There were a couple closer, but they were crap. It was definitely worth the effort to get this one.
