Nice system. Oh, and Bridgestone is poo.

jjtgiants 09-07-2006 08:00 PM

I don't know anything about stereo systems, but why is the speaker going towards the truck and not towards the front of the car??

TClark22 09-07-2006 08:04 PM

the box is ported...and dont know the measurments...but they had to take out spare tire and trunk latch in order to get it in

Because it is a subwoofer. It is non directional. It gives you the *thump* in your trunk and is efinately a good thing to hae, so long as it is crisp and clear rather than just overpowering and annoying. More and bigger is not always better.

tis why i got the 8" it is not overly loud like enough to shake just about everything on my car...although the 10" still has the damn good sound like the W7's produce the 10" in my friends stang makes the hair on my head raise up...some serious freakin power but then again his is over 2000$ stereo system and mine was 1600

More is always bigger and better being it be more subs, more power, more box space, or more voltage!

it might thump bigger and louder but not better... unless u get good sounding subs...

Please enliten me on how one "thumps bigger" or "better"
lol

whitethunder46 09-07-2006 08:24 PM

Kinda sux that the little 8" takes up ur entire trunk. I had two 10's and looked like it took up less room. lol

And Bridgestone is good, still not a Pro V

i save my pro v's for tournaments but still mostly play them all the time

and it doesnt kinda suck...this sub is one loud mother ****er...what subs you have?

White04GT 09-07-2006 08:36 PM

Did you do the install yourself? They didn't do a very clean install like the shop that did mine. They could of hidden the wires atleast..I have 2 12" rockford fosgate p3's in my trunk..they had to build the box in the trunk and fire the subs upword to get the right measurements the subs require..all in all I am happy..I can rattle the **** out of my car with the bass on -4 and volume at 14..but I like to be able to hear my music too =). thats why they make a bass control knob. Bigger is always better.

White04GT 09-07-2006 08:39 PM

howmuch did the shop charge you? My shop charged me $475 for the custom built box, installing the amp, 4 guage wireing, amp rack, and all other misc stuff they needed.

Contrary to newbie belief, the bass knob isnt a volume button, its a remote gain switch to match your headunit preout voltage so you dont clip your subs and destroy them.

TClark22 09-07-2006 08:42 PM

lol how is that not a clean install...only wire they didnt hide very well was the bronze one from the sub to the amp...and they did that in case i wanted to move the sub or something...it looks very clean to me

o and 285 to install sub, amp, head unit, speakers, and taking out the old mach system

MattJ 09-07-2006 08:43 PM

Ya it looks fine and clean to me, too...

Lances03SVT 09-07-2006 08:50 PM

Very nice!!

lol.... not all subs are built the same, nor are amps.

im sure you already know that.

Get a 1000 watt sony explode and some sone xplode 12 inch subs and be prepared to hear pure crap.

I wouldnt be suprised if anything after the first 30 watts of a sony explode that the other 970 watts are clipping like mad.

I'll take a pair of 8's or 10's over 12's anyday. They have a faster transient responce which gives tighter cleaner bass.

pair of 10's is ideal, then spend some good bucks and get some real quality amps that can push 500w without clipping, then yer into some nice clean bass

Note: im not as used into car audio as i used to be. Kinf of fell out of that racket after my 3rd system got stolen. thats what i get for having killer systems in Saturns and blasting them in the nighborhood.

anyways... im sure you know this cause i thought u were into car audio

I have a pair of 200rms(600peak) velodyne subwoofers in my house that will stomp the ever living **** out of a Carver "True-Sub" which i believe pushes 2,700 watts. And REL has a 100w sealed subwoofer with a single 10 that will put out as much spl if not more than my dual subs.

Its not the quanity of watts rather than the quality.

1000 watts doesent mean squat if it clips as soon as it passes 100w.

Thats what I am thinking as well. I got one 10'' and still have 90% of my trunk useful.

Anyway, install looks good...but damn...you coulda easily done it yourself and saved some $$.

glad you like what you have.

Yop, i blew two sets of subs before i figured that out. And i am still using my factory Mach system with two MTX amps and two 10 in Kickers.

CCM 09-08-2006 04:44 AM

I had 2 10" Alpine Type-Rs connected to a Kenwood KAC-9102D amp and it was so rediculously loud that I returned it. They drowned out the other speakers so all you could hear was bass. :nomore:

Rabbit 09-08-2006 06:40 AM

looks good. The reason the box is so big for a 8, is because the W7 is a huge ass speaker that needs a big box.

ANyone ever watch unique whips? They put 2 W7 13's in a H2 and it took up damn near the entire rear of the hummer.

TClark22 09-08-2006 11:14 AM

yep...and the one on unique was so damn loud...

the base on mine does not drown out the sound...i would make a video but i am not sure of how it would turn out
