We live in Iowa and are looking for a 2001-2003 Mustang GT. Myself and (Ann) my daughter are looking for the Mustang. This will be her first car. She has saved up the money and is ready to buy. She is 17, Junior in High School, I know this might seem strange to some people but she has saved her money from working at the age of 14 and she did not spend it much. She wants the Mustang GT and has made some sacrifices......

We also have a 20 old daughter (amy) who did the same thing and bought a 96 Firebird Trans Am WS6 Ram Air, Black, When she was a Senior in high school. So Ann has insperation. I think it is a good thing compared to what trouble they can get into as kid. Also so far neither daughter has got a traffic ticket and they know what happens if they do get a ticket.

Our family is also into older cars. Amy and Ann and myself worked on a 1976 Camaro, which we bought for $180.00 "running". We changed the front to a 1970 1/2 Rally Sport front and welded a 1972 tail on the car to change the body style, but the car still has the 76 rape aroung back window. This took 2 years while the girls were in school and soccer. They each welded, body filler, sanded, sanded, sanded, and painted and repaired the interior. This was a very fun family project.

Ann has also started working on a 1965 Mustang this past summer. The 65 was good car but was damaged on drivers front fender and door and replaced with rusty parts. We are going to repair these parts and repaint. Ann has the car mostly apart now excepted for the drivers door. Interior is also out and going to be touched up also.

Here are some pictures of the Camaro and the Mustang the girls worked on; there is two pages of pictures:: http://groups.msn.com/AmyAnn/shoebox.msnw?Page=1

Well got carried away with the intro.

Well back to the point. Ann is looking for a 2001-2003 Mustang GT. I know Chevrolet and have own Chevrolet, but Ann likes the Mustangs. So I (And Ann) have to learn more about these Mustangs before she buys one. We will have some dumb Question for you guys, I am sure.

Thank you stano and Ann

As the Admin to this place, I would like to wish you a warm welcome! I hope your daughter finds what she wants and you seem like a great addition to our site.

Please ask away! I am sure someone here can help and watch out for the wise-guys.

As a father of two girls, I can relate to your post, though, mine are mucg younger but will surely be doing the same in the future.

I have a few questions for you? Why an '01-'03? Just curious actually. You might get a better deal on a 99 or 00, but might be harder the find with lower miles. The 99-00 are better to hard-core mod if you should decide on a blower down the road, but the '01+ have a better tranny. Although, I am cutting hairs on both accounts. The differences are not much.

The later year cars also have nicer interiors, different wings, and hoods. That becomes a personal preference, though most like the look of the '01+ better then the earlier ones.

I have a 2000, but with a 2001 hood and a Roush front bumper and wing. Once great thing about Mustangs is there is a huge after-market parts world available.

Good luck!

Thanks for the invite guys.

MT# Working on the cars with the girls is great. We still do it. When they have other things to do the car waits. I hope you have the same experiance we have when your girls get older. And now Ann is telling me about Mustangs...

Why the 2001 - 2003. Ann likes the color "mineral grey" "her favorite", Another thing she wants is a hood scoop. The third is 5 speed. Fourth is Premiun 1's (torque thrust look alikes). Fifth is dual exhaust, problay flow masters, she heard them on a mustang once. And I forgot a V8 engine. Stereo is last.. She says she will have all the stereo she needs coming out the tale pipes..

2000 GT we think does not have hood scoop, so they are out (Please correct us if we are wrong on that)

2003 We found that Mineral Grey changes to Dark Shaddow Grey, but she likes Dark Shadow Grey also..

2004 She said has a 40 aniversey emblem on the fender, which she would rather have the GT emblem, but 2004 do have Dark Shadow Grey. So 2004 is kind of out for now with the 40 emblem.

Looking for a car with 40,000 - 50,000 miles on it. 2003 is high milage and a deduct in price and 2002 are no change and 2001 are low milage with a increase in price.

Thank you for your help
Searching for a Grey GT
