Hi, my name is Shaun. I'm 17 years old. I own a silver 1999 Ford Mustang LX 5 speed. The car is pretty stock, besides the previous owner installed a GT bumper, with a cob-job dual exhaust. Since then, I have had installed a Flowmaster kit to give my car a somewhat deeper-throatier sound (with lower rpm's) and to have the rear end look more like a GT. I plan to have a body shop install a GT hood scoop, accompanied by GT fog lights. I plan on keeping the 35th Anniversary badges on my fenders, but I also plan on removing and haveing Mustang GT rocker stripes on my side skirts. Its a work in progress, I will post some pictures in the picture forum once I have this work done, eventually.

I believe so. It doesn't have any fancy features. It has the basic, "push-button" stereo, it doesn't have the speakers near the driver and passenger mirrors, yeah so I guess its just a base model. I wish I had spent the money to buy an actual GT, but I would probably be dead.

I like it. It's sort of like testing before I buy a GT.
Sure, want to loan me about one grand? I already have a GT badge on the trunk anyways. I don't think I will do too much to my Mustang anyways. Just body modifications to make it look more aggressive. Save the real stuff for the V8.

i dont mind ppl putting gt bumpers and hoods even i have a cobra front on my GT, but dont put a rocket stripe that says GT, if u want to stripe so bad, just get one that says mustang, and get the v6 tri-bar badges, they look great

I have black "Mustang" rocker stripes already, plus I want to keep my 35th Anniversary badges on my fenders. I want to remove the current stripes on my car for the Mustang GT ones. Sort of like false advertising.

Exactly...why are you trying to make the car look like something it's not? It's a V6...there's nothing wrong with that. I'd rather advertise a slow V6, than a slow, and fake GT. GT's aren't even worth trying to mimic

Because I like the look of a GT. Its soft-boxy curves, the hood scoop, the dual exhaust, the fog lights, all of it. I should just probably save up my money and actually go out and buy a GT, or maybe a Cobra instead of putting money into my car.

Well..anyone here with a GT will tell you that stock GTs don't really look that good, the only thing that looks different from them and the V6s are the more noticeable non-functional scoops and the bumper with cut outs for a dual exhaust. You can have all of that on a V6 and not need to put GT emblems on it; that's just being a poser. I don't know who would want to try to pretend to have a 14 second 16 valve V8 anyway. With all of the money it takes to get those little bits and pieces and get them painted, you could buy yourself some nitrous and run head to head with a Gt.

Exactly.
I think that stock GT's look nice. When I bought the car, it came with the GT badge on the trunk. I didn't put it there.
It's $159.99 for the hood scoop and about $500.00 to get it installed/painted (with fading on the surrounding areas of my hood) I don't know where I could get all the equipment for a nitrous kit and get it installed for around $700.00. I would most likely blow my engine up if I did that. I'm sure I couldn't just buy a nitrous kit and have some shop throw it in and it would work, I would need to tune it accordingly to make sure it would work properly, and make sure it wouldn't damage my engine.

I'm not a fan of spray, personally...so now that you know where I stand on that, put in 4.10 gears and run right with stock GTs. And I'm not even going to get started on the stripe until I see pics, so hopefully I'll be commenting again soon?
Oh and while I'm here, welcome aboard.

stock* - I have no idea if this was actually stock or if the person(s) who owned the vehicle before me had them installed.

i feel bad for your school. I did not have my mustang in highschool but if i did it wouldnt even be in the nicest group of cars, we had m3's/is350's and all kinds of crap

I have the nicest car at my school as well.....My old school was the same way minus the chick who drove a hummer because her dad owned the entire town lol.
Ohh and welcome. I agree with you on the nitrous, I've now been in two pretty much fully stock cars with nitrous and had them blow the motor. Once, we almost died because of it as well. IMO, nitrous is meant for a built motor, when you put it on a stock car it seems like you're trying to be a ricer slapping a huge turbo on his stock "V-TEC" lol.

Well you hit the nail right on the head there. My friend has the nicest car. Its a '97 BMW M3 Sedan; Automatic; Silver... He had his parents buy it for him and then he paid them off, so technically if we counted the fact that I actually own my car, its the nicest car that one of the students of my school actually own. But nobody ever wants to get technical. My car is still a 5 speed. Auto < Standard.

Damn straight. If you have any car that is an auto other than a drag car, anything standard is better. In the winter I hate driving my moms car simply because I've almost shifted from drive into neutral multiple times. BMW's IMO are overrated unless you have an M3 or M3 GTR...but, only is it's a stick, none of that auto+slap stick bull crap that my ex's car had.

Don't blame nitrous for stupid people that don't know how to use it a 100 shot is perfectly safe on a stock motor

Just because someone used there kit or installed their nitrous kit improperly, does not mean nitrous is unsafe. If you think any form of a power adder is safer then the other, you are retarded. I see more cases of motors blown from turbo setups and supercharger setups then I ever see from nitrous kits.
