cool, thanks man. if i had 400 bucks i'd be all over it.
- note to everyone building up here. i just spent 26 bucks for bolts to put the power steering and ac on and the nuts and bolts for the header to mid-pipe. so if u have a donor engine get as much with it as possible. this is trip 52 to the parts store...

well for everyone doing their first 5.4 swap, i have a couple of hints.

1. put the exhaust manifolds/headers on BEFORE you install the motor.
2. have a donor 4.6/5.4 with ALL the nuts and bolts.
3. don't count on anyone to be there to help with the heavy lifting or hard parts of the install

and here is how close the frpp headers are to the frame...

had 2hours of fun putting thos epuppies in...

those are frpp shortie headers. i had a bbk x-pipe befor enow i'm going with a mac prochamber. all u need to do is pull them apart about an inch. then they bolt right up. the long tube deal fell thru so i'm putting these on now till i can pickup some lt's to work with...

Its looking hot man, mine has become a money pit, working on complimentary mods while I slowly build up the engine.

update - mac prochamber doesn't fit under there. the pipe itself hits the frame and i don't care to mod it. i'll slap my bbk xpipe back on till i do the lt's

Cool 5.4L to 4.6L

Is there a way to put a 5.4L supercharger from a Lightning onto my 4.6L Mustang GT?

the bend in the pipe is real sharp 2 inches before the flange. and it would take some cutting and welding to make it fit. but since the prochamber is pretty beatup i just will go back to the x pipe till i do the lt's

o ok, well i'm going to get my exaust guy to do mine so "i'm" not going to sweat it , but he probably will. I think while he is under there i'm going to get him to put some cats on it too.

The lightning blower is designed for a large hood clearance application like a truck so the inlet is at the top rear of the compressor. That does not integrate well with the mustang platform. You could probably use a 03 cobra blower with a custom lower manifold or an old saleen/roush lower. The older saleen and roush stage 3 (like 96-01ish) used 90cid roots type blowers so the adaptation to the larger 112cid blower from the terminators should not be exceptionally difficult but it will nonetheless require significant modification.

I planned on the exhaust being something of an issue so I went ahead and laid in a supply of 2.5 and 3" exhaust tubing. I bought a little sampler pack that had straights and bends in it. We'll be doing a custom exhaust on mine so I can fit 2 more cats in there. Without the full 4 cats it'll never pass smog with my cam.

BTW... my cams arrived. They're right purdy. I'm looking around the f150 forums to see what kind of gains is typical on trucks with that cam. Hopefully I can use that info to get a better estimate of final power.

Yes, the heads will bolt on. You just need the Navigator timing cover, chains, tensioners, etc. and a Sullivan intake manifold (or Cobra Intake widened).

with 4v heads... think up to 100hp more NA depending on how you do it. Stock B heads and cams should see deep into the 300's on hp and tq. Your redline will have to drop to 5500 or so to be safe unless you feel like tossing a set of aftermarket rods in it but all the stomp will be there from idle to redline. Remember... on modest compression and cams and a wicked intake the 00 R' made its 385bhp rating and then some every time. An old acquaintance of mine made 440rwhp with a tune on his 00' R.

You could also end up with not much more than you had. Do a good job and good things will come of it.

as promised... intake pics with fuel rails and injectors. No plates but those are attached to a set of heads right now.
