very few have the foresight to see that this is early phase swapping and over the next few years there will be a tidal wave of 4.6 - 5.4 swaps. There are lots of reasons for the growth. Most of the guys that jumped on the wagon here just found out it was possible and decided to throw in their lot.

i just had read the magazine article and had a nasty ticking on my pi swapped 4.6( moon ket snapped) well this guy here is a whiz with mustangs asked me to get him a laptop cheap( i'm a computer geek by day) and he would help me with my motor since i lived in a townhouse and didn't have a garage. a couple days later he said he had a 5.4 out of a 98 f150 with 30ishk miles, so i bugged dan for a set of adapters. the rest is like you guys, putting it all together and having a hell lotta fun driving it.

my problem is i have wanted to do this for a long time, like 3-4 yrs. (before Dan Simmons article)
my only problem is $$$, and family priorities. plus i just might get laid off from my job. which might end to the selling of the car.
so anything i listed, you guys just make an offer and we will work something out

captain impatient. Yes... the word is: I just sent a prototype to a manufacturer to make the last couple changes to and start production. The prototypes should be there by the end of the week. It will take just days to set up casting molds if we go that route. Otherwise a CNC program will have to be created and then we can start full scale production.
If you guys are dead serious about buying them, please send me a PM to that effect. If I can tell the metal guys that I've got a guarantee of x many sets out of the gate then they'll be more kin to pull the hurry up lever and to keep the price down.

no spy photos. The "guy" and I just finalized the design changes yesterday. He's supposed to be going to the machine shop this week or next to cut out a set and get all the cnc programming done.
They're coming and they're going to be the best set to see the light of day yet.

1. Can you use all the timing components from the 4.6 on the 5.4 (timing gears, chains, tensioners)
2. Number 1 might answer this one but Is it necessary to buy a 5.4 "donor" if im building a forged block and rotating assembly anyway?
3. I heard you can cut the 4.6 timing cover (where the vortech bracket goes) and weld it to the 5.4 timing cover but this was on a 5.4 DOHC app???
I have the V-1 S-trim w/aftercooler which i really want to put on the 5.4 I think it would be the cobra killer combo ive been looking for. (Kenne Bell low end without the kenne bell and the centri top end)
Thanks guys excellent thread!

Sorry, timing components won't fit as a result of the taller deck height.
You don't need a donor 5.4 but having one usually will make the build cheaper since buying everything new can cost you.
You can do this but it's probably better to modify the bracket to fit w/o having to weld a piece of the timing cover on.
