Welcome! Really excited to see what the TT kit does and how well the side mounted adapters work on their intake. I don't know for sure that they've even cut a prototype set yet, so I'm really pumped that you finally decided to chime in.
I'm hearing 500 ponies in your future.
impact gun my friend...

It was not loosening any of the bolts i needed loose and for the sole reason i bought it for.
After all I did by a wal-mart compressor lol 20 gal tank and the impact gun that came with it rated up to 250 lbs

Nope sorry its an auto :P
(great for year round driving in my mind)
Will Drive do the same thing..was going to do this but it was getting late and had already been changing out shocks and sway bar and a few other little things.
I had put up my UPD's on CL after i was PO'd that I just couldn't get in...sale is pending..
These wouldn't fit on the 5.4 so might as well keep them new and clean and sell em..
On the side note I have bought something for the engine...good ol serp belt lol
had an extra belt from the 4.6 and just traded it in for the 5.4

And yes for the most part you could use them on a 5.4 and I ended up using my 4.6 belt on my 5.4

Yeah I got the TT kit back in May of 09 and got the 5.4 plates with my order then.
Got a 16~18* set of pullies for the TT kit so 500 should be the least that I make, but torque is gonna be oh so sweet...
The M112 is going to be my bottleneck for now I think.

launches are going to be the death of trannies connected to 5.4's. The 3650 will take an obscene amount of power at higher rpm/wheel speeds but at low/no rpm they're sensitive to numbers over 400.

BTW guys, BIG news:
A BIG name in the modular world and I are in talks about a new project for 5.4's. I can't let anything out yet but it's destined to be really groundbreaking work. Tommy, I'll bring you in as soon as we've got a for sure on the project going forward. 330cube, you too. Dan, don't think I forgot about you. You'll be involved if you have the time/interest.

Anybody buy a rebuilt motor that they can recommend a source? My truck has been sitting ever since the 5.4 3v I dropped in spun a bearing, my plan right now is just to stick a 2v in to get it going since I've been shopping other vehicles. I don't really want to play the boneyard roulette again so I'm thinking something that I know is fresh. Any suggestions? Everywhere that I find short/longblocks from the typical mod builders they are all forged and I have no need of that whether I keep the truck or not...

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/pts/1646995718.html bitchin deal on a full lightning setup. I can help with the inspection and shipping details though I'm not affiliated with the seller in any way.

wow...that's a freaking good deal for a complete lightning engine!!!
hey red can you just give us a hint on what not to get if something big is coming up for us 5.4 guys soon? id hate to see someone buy something just to find out something a whole lot better is coming out.

I've been around so little lately I thought maybe you had found a new Dan...
That L setup is indeed a screamin' deal if the stuff is all healthy, but there's always that risk to a used engine (like the one I'm pulling back out...) and with shipping and all the extras it would be more like ~$4500 all said and done. I want to stick to about half that at most.....

Well, I'm getting kinda close to getting my L swap running. Got a few little odds and ends to get done. I ALMOST got my cobra R hood to close!! I used Maximum Motorsports 1/2" K-member spacers and machined down the midplate .300. It won't suite make it though. Aggrh. Pics coming soon.............I hope.

Ok boys, here's the first part of the news, you'll have to wait for the 2nd part.
HPS is interested in making a new intake. This one will almost certainly require a small cowl hood on mustangs but is really intended for much higher RPM and should bring nice peak gains and a longer power band. The thing is, just like with the Hardball'R we have to show that there's enough market. They're still trying to break even from the Hardball'R so I think I'd have to show 100 units or better flying out the door upon release just to get them to make the first prototype.
Now, you guys get to help make it happen. I need all of you to go out and surf the lightning and f-150 and crown vic and mustang forums and build some interest. Let the folks know that there's something new in the works that's intended to be used on more serious combo's. The Hardball'R is great for plain bolt in and a nice power gain, this new one will not just be a bolt in. It'll require a new inlet elbow, probably a new TB and perhaps some other minor bits. We do intend to make it so 4.6 or 5.4 fuel rails will bolt right up but other than that, this will be new.
We're going to a completely different design principle, this time major taper in the runners, shorter runners and all kinds of radius', and a new upper flange spec... it's exciting. Pricing should be about even with the Hardball'R.
Note this intake should be used on: Turbo, Centri, NA+n2o where you desire a shift point above 6000 (looking for 7000, we'll see) rpm. Trucks will be able to bolt it on without hood clearance issues as far as we're guessing now.

that sounds good, I started a thread on some other sites about manifolds for 5.4s, I have bolt on 5.4 that will eventually be cammed, I want to get rid of the adapter plates and I have about 500$ now to spend. I could put together a lightning lower with a cobra or mach 1 upper for about 400 are there any problems with that set up. I wont be putting any boost to my engine just cams and TFS heads then a built shortblock to boost compression.

and intake with a possible 7000 redline would be awesome...i cant use it cause of the lightning set-up but ill help spread the news. just making sure so other people know....the stock rods will no way in hell be good for that high rpm right?
