i know this is very noobish but how do u do a good burnout?
not for a drag race but for the heck of it?
and how good do stock Gts burn rubber?

What year is your car? On any 99+ you must first turn off traction control, twist your left foot a bit so that you can press the clutch and the brake at the same time. Rev the engine to about 4 grand dump the clutch and hold the brake. The higher you rev the engine, after the burnout begins, the more smoke you will make. ;) ...

my opinion is just a tad different then 4.6's well on my car 96 gt...if all i wanna do is like a bigg old burnnout but like actually start moving down the road while burrnin them up...ill just rev up like 2500 pop the clutch half way slam the gas while poppin it the rest of the way....till redline...powershift real quuick to second gear and i can generally keep them peelin through the bottom of 3rd pretty well...now i am a person who is very against powerbraking cars and i just flat out wont do it in my mustang...however i did it in my camaro once or twice...unless you have linelocks its not a wise thing to do either. However the way i would do a burnout if i wanted to like sit in one spot kinda an just smoke the hell outa the tires...now 4.6 says one foot on the gas an one foot on clutch and brake...the way i do it is one foot clutch..an one foot gas an brake...basically becuz the pressure on the brake should be kinda constant and the gas pedal is gonna change a bit but its only gonna be like wot and off really...the clutch takes a lil more sensitivity and more pressure to push it down (ya kinda have to work the clutch a lil bit) i dunno this is just how i do things...not right or wrong way everyone burns em up differently lol

this is how I always do them.. (in a manual)

I start off stopped, holding the clutch in. I rev the engine up between 3500-4000 and at this point I dump the clutch and quickly move my left foot to the break and apply enough break to keep the car from taking off. I rev the car all the way up and hold it and just let it burn rubber :) after awhile i just let my foot off the break and let it go

Not bad Christie. I would've kept on the brake a little longer for a little more smoke. :D I can't wait til next spring so the guys and I can take vids of our burnouts.

I have trouble doing it with my auto, it always wants to bog down on me

no problems here...
I just use light brake pressure and roll into the throttle. Having original gatorbacks probably helps... :D

yeah I wish I had too.. I hadn't ever done a burnout with those tires and they are my everyday tires and I didn't want to burn them too bad lol. I usually do them on drag radials which I don't care if they have hardly any tread on lol

ive never done a stand still burnout in my car. and you people wonder why your **** always breaks or makes noises. lol

lol burnouts aren't that bad! the way im doing it does wear down your breaks a bit.. i just haven't got around to buying the slp line lock

Sloud be the middle button infront of the shifter by the foglight button

naw.. the center dash was a little different in 1999.. you should still have a traction control button though..

Maybe I'm pressing the break to hard when I start the throttle? I really want to go try but i have my winter tires on!

here a step by step of what i do, like christies, but step by step



1 turn traction controll on
2 hold the clutch in while revving relativley high (4k mabey?)
3 dump the clutch and press the brake in
4 have it so the brakes are JUST enough so it keeps the car still
5 hold gas and brake in that position to desired smoke :D
6 let off gass and go!

Dumping the clutch just mean letting go of it. When you car bogs if you were drag racing it would fall on its face and go nowhere. Basically it means the car looses its power momentarily and it might turn off on you. (thats the best way i can explain it. :o )...burnouts will not have a big impact on your brakes as long as you don't do too much of it and you do it correctly.

what do u mean bog?
if you take your car to the drag strip you will see what bogging means.. basically it's in between taking off and getting traction, when I go to the drag strip I have to bog my car a little in order for it to get traction. I rev it up to 3000rpms and let off the clutch and it will bog just for a second when the tires may spin just a little and then it will go just as normal.

What is dumping the clutch?
this is just pulling your foot right off the clutch, not easing out on it or anything like that

let's see.. I've done it about 11 times each time at the track and I've been to the track about 5 times, I haven't notice any different in the breaks. When I installed the 4.10 gears I checked them out and they were still in great shape. The easier way to do it is to get a link lock.. MT sales the SLP line lock. This will lock only your front breaks to keep the car from going anywhere and let the back ones be free to spin.

My car is to powerful and there isnt enough meat on the ground to get traction. hehe, i go through tires like candy.

Do you hold the brake as hard as you can and then gently go into the gas and then harder? or do you not press the brake that hard? I have trouble

the more gas the less brake you need, the less gas the more brake you need. You kinda just gatta feel for it.
