Default Steeda CAI?

does anybody on here have the steeda cold air intake for a 97 mustang gt? I am thinking about buying an intake for my next mod, and even though its a little pricey ($270), it looks really nice and is good for "7-10 hp".

any thoughts? thanks

Unless you are wanting to buy a CAI for appearances, power increases can be had by trimming or removing the air silencer, removing the screen from in front of the MAF sensor, abd using a high flow air filter. The Steeda unit is nice looking but it draws all the incoming air from a very hot engine compartment.By using your stock airbox and trimming the air silencer you still get supposedly cooler fender well air.By removing the MAF screen you will lean out the air fuel ratio somewhat but I removed mine with no adverse effects.MMFF did a test on a Mach 1 and got six hp for the filter and silencer and 7.4 with the screen removed. This WAS on a Mach 1 so you could deduct a couple for a GT.The best part is that these are totally free.(except the air filter)

I'd pass on it! They are pretty high and you wont feel a difference!

I have one on mine! There nice. I dont think there worth the money Steeda asks for them, havent really dynoed it to see if any gains so cant really say? I actually think it feels a bit better then my MAC cai did. It comes w/a heat shield so to block the Hot air. They do have a simiular design to the JLT cai so you have the ability to remove the headlight for that so called Ram Air effect
