5.0 4v new mod motor for 2011 Mustang
Its gonna happen. Here is a quote.
I'm very interested in seeing how the ecoboost v6 is going to do power wise once they start messing with it. That might make for a sweet DD with good mpg and good power.
When the 2010 Ford Mustang debuted, there was a collective groan among the pony car faithful that Ford didn't update the aging 4.6-liter V8 along with the 'Stang's new sheetmetal. So when a few spy shots surfaced in January showing a new aluminum engine nestled under the hood of a Mustang mule, we knew the Blue Oval had something else up its sleeve – and now we have confirmation.
According to Ford Australia's product development director, Russell Christophers, FoMoCo's U.S. team is working on an all-new, aluminum double-overhead cam 5.0-liter V8 – codenamed "Coyote" – with output expected to crest 400 hp and around 400 lb-ft of torque. Christophers told Australia's Drive, "I have seen the performance curves and it is a pretty good engine."
The new 32-valve, 5.0-liter V8 is expected to be fitted to the Mustang and F-150 sometime in 2010, replacing the current 4.6- and 5.4-liter mills. With its aluminum block, it should be notably lighter than the current V8, and with the inevitable option of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 making its way under the Mustang's hood, Ford looks to be bringing the fight to the new Chevrolet Camaro.

I'm glad the coyote's finally being announced. There have been rumors about this engine for years but nobodys really been sure if it was really going to happen.

won't need 40k... for a coupe GT you should see maybe 28-32k stickers. Ford is pretty good about keeping the Mustang affordable.
Been planning on buying one since I heard about the Coyote motors. 1 more year and I'll be able to pick one up.

A 5.0 4v that puts out 400 hp NA stock is going to have a bit more potential than a 4.6 4v that puts out 390(ish) hp supercharged stock

Great, but again, Ford is loosing the displacement war since that engine will still not have the low end grunt of the LS3 and Hemi. The Boss engine is suppose to come out. Ford would be wise to dump those in to compete (and p0wn the competition).

Supposedly the internals are going to be somewhat fair, the engineers at the plant were saying that it is SUPPOSE to be able to withstand somewhere above 500hp on stock internals.
Sad thing is I don't think it'll be as cheap as spike said. I've heard that they're looking at a price closer to the SS Camaro.....
BUT, maybe that'll change as they go cheap on other stuff.
As for the wheels, I think they're creating a specialty wheel line just for the 5.0. Or you could always do the build your own.....and get majorly ripped off lol.

No way its going to be 12:1 on a street car that is supposed to run on 93-91 octane. That's just to much compression. 11:1 would be the max the OE's are gonna run on pump gas. Unless they give us knock sensor that will pull timing out when they see detonation.
Am I the only one who thinks the new ecoboost is gonna be sweet?

Whereas a turbo you can just upgrade intercooler and the main turbo and be done with the exception of bolt-ons.
I'm excited to see the EcoBoost V6 and the SHO take the market by storm when people start actually making them fast. Taurus is too heavy for the hp it puts down now.

There is still a market for the 5.0 though as I doubt the ecoboost can push over 6-700hp (which all the dyno queens want) and a 6 will never have a real muscular exhaust tone. Oh and lets not forget that Ford feels the need to put FI in a lot of their performance platforms. I think it is only a matter of time before we see an eaton or pair of snails on the 5.0

Nope, for now I am more excited about the ecoboost than the coyote 5.0. It will be funny to watch the stock 5.0's adding nitrous just to keep up with the 6's after a turbo and intercooler swap.

That wouldn't surprise me but I wish they would turbo the bigger engines. Could you imagine if the 5.4 came from the factory with turbos instead of the heaton.

Ford quit believing in turbos after the SVO Mustang. Ford and all of it's aftermarket companies choose superchargers because they're cheaper to make and install than turbos, plus offer full-range power.
I would love to see someone make their own GT500/GT with a turbo instead of the awful supercharger they put on there. Think if Saleen or Roush decided to make a turbo mustang, that would be the ****. Even if it was 40-45k, it'd smoke the hell out of a Cobra or GT500 with a few mods.

wouldnt that be kind of a buzz kill to be one of the first people to own a 2010 GT, and be all happy and ****, then 2011 comes out with an extra 85hp + tq?
i could imaging the conversation in 2011 or 2012
"You got a mustang?"
-Yeah, one of the new ones!-
"Oh sweet! Those are badass, like, 400hp right? What year is it?"
-uhh... 2010...?-
"Oh.. an 0-10 huh?.."
-yeah...-
"werent those the ones with like 300 HP?"
-no, it had 315...-
"yeah, but every one after that had 400hp right?"
-well... yeah...-
"that sucks, why did you get THAT one instead of waiting a year?"
-Because im a ******* dumbass-
"Wow.. i guess you really are a dumbass... i bet you wsih you waited"
-Yeah... but its cool, i mean, 315 hp right? thats still legit-
"i guess so, but the V6 puts out 300hp right?"
-yeah but it is still a V6-
"that weighs less than yer v8 with just 15 less hp"
- i suck at life-
