Adding a catted X will increase the volume and pitch of the exhaust note. Expect it to be about twice as loud.

A shorty xpipe is for long tube headers. Shorty headers are for regular xpipes. Dont get the two confused. The difference between the two xpipes is the length as the Long tube headers stretch back more than a regular exhaust manifold or shorty header so the xpipe has to be shorter.

i agree 100% with venom...if you are getting the shorty xpipe you're going to have to wait to put it on until you get your long tube headers. Your stock manifold won't reach the shorty xpipe...only longtube headers. I recommend an slp full assembly xpipe. This way you can hook this up to your stock setup, order your longtube headers, then connect your headers to this modular xpipe. That's what I am doing!!

i know that this is kind of off topic for shorty xpipes...but i have another quick question about xpipes in general...I have 40 series mufflers on my car now...but want a more aggressive sound so i am going to add an xpipe...the only thing is with or without cats? i have been thinking about this for 2 weeks now...but you win or lose for either one...if i was to go with cats i would pass emissions but it wouldn't nearly be as loud and it would in a sense be a waste of money...if i go without cats the sound would be there...but how would i pass emissions???

if you go catless, u will need MIL Elimnators or a tuner/chip to turn off the MILs. if your still interested i have my xcal still for sale. PM if you are.

Just cat the standard sized SLP X pipe. It is modular, so when you get the LT's, you just make it shorter w/o any cutting.

If I went with an SLP loudmouth catback w/ a catted x-pipe, to put on my 97GT.. would everything fit alright?

Whats the difference with a shorty x?

Sry, have patience... I'm trying to learn

a shorty x pipe will only fit long tube headers. If you get the slp x pipe it is universal (yes it works with stock headers, shorty headers, and long tube headers) since you can remove sections of it so it will fit long tube headers. so if you have stock exhaust manifolds (headers) then just get a regular x pipe o/r or catted your discretion. if have long tube headers waiting to go on your car then get the shorty x pipe and put them in at the same time thats the only way everything will hook up to your cat back system.

i think your just looking at the price tag, less material means less money. thats another difference between the shorty x and a regular x pipe with or with out cats. hope this helped you understand.
