Im looking to add a set of headers, I currently have installed a BBK Cold Air intake,C&L Upper Plenum Intake and a BBK 75mm throttlebody and Steeda Underdrive pullies.
Im curious on what other people have installed and what would best with what I have so far and in the future. I also need to make sure that the headers in question will bolt on to the factory stainless exhaust with the factory H-Pipe still in tact. The X-Pipe will come later now that Magaflow offers a California Emission legal version. Thanks all Matt |

if you want headers that will bolt up to the factory exhaust then they have ot be shorties. long tubes require a mid poipe that is shorted to fit with the extra length of the headers. so really your only choice is shorties. I think MAC and BBKs are legal in cali but you can look around on this site for headers that are 50 state legal and are short tubes.

Cool thks for the update, I was looking at the BBK shorty headers and they are California Legal.
Anyone know what the charge would be to install headers, I have heard that these Modular V8's require that you unbolt the engine from the motor mounts and jack it up a bit. Anyone..?? Thanks again all |

Ok, Im gunna give ya two options. Either go with longtubes, and a catted midpipe and actually NOTICE a difference, but risk not being CA legal, OR, spend the money on shorties, get them installed, and not really notice anything substantial other than a change in exhaust tone. Personally, if Im going to spend the time and money, they are going to be longtubes, but do what you like. Personally, Id get 4.10s installed and a catted midpipe because the Nazis...err I mean, smog officials usually arent happy with longtubes. Do what you think you should, but this is just my opinion. Good luck, have fun with your car.
Matt P.S. I moved this to 2v tech. |

I have a full Bassani exhaust with cats on my 04.It has a good sound thats not much louder than stock at idle but sounds good as the RPM's climb.MMFF did a test on a stock 02 with this very exhaust and gained 17.3 RWHP and 17.2 Ft/lbs of torque. They are kind of expensive but I like mine.Cost to install by the Ford dealer...$623.I started the install myself but gave up after I set my whiskers on fire with the cutting torch.
