Default slow 0-60 times (stock) ?

i got my 03 gt stang 6 months ago and decided to time it (with a stop watch) the best i could get from automatic with the trac. control off is 7.5 with very little wheel spin at all. i know its a slush box and the vert adds 300 pounds but this seems slow to me. and every once in a great will it doesn't want to start. after 10-20 sec of cranking it comes alive. no mods that i know about. new tires. checked the fuel line pressure and was told it was at 38 psi. whats the prob?

stop watch is very inaccurate..but i will say that the convertible adds some serious weight..you can always get some 4.10's or 4.30's and that will definitely give you an improvement

I agree, it is very tough to get an accurate measurement of 0-60 or 1/4 mile time w/ a stop watch. But then agian, maybe it is accurate. My slightly modified GT ran a best 14.9 at an official track, but then again, thats mostly driver error, so who knows.

I had the same starting problem with my 03 GT when I first got it. After awhile it just went away though. You might want to bring it to the dealership and see what they say. I cant really see them fixing anything though.

The starting problem is much like the 1st to 2nd gear grind problem, unless you can recreate the problem for them on the spot they will not do anything.

My 03 isnt that bad but now and then I have to turn it over for 5-10 seconds before she cranks up. I found it helps if you see it will not start immediately stop turning it over, then try again and put petal to floor and it will crank up.

One thing you might want to try doing is turn the key a couple clicks, not dont turn the car on, give it a couple seconds then try to start the car from there.

I'll take some and post later today, looking at your car I would say it's a must. I went to the local Friday night Hotrod night at Biff Burger http://www.geocities.com/cavevader/biffburger/ and almost everyone who stopped by to look at my car spent much time on the spinners, even a couple of the AC Cobra guys stopped by to check them out.
