Default BBK vs. Mustang GT Cold Air Intake.

on americanmuscle.com there is a BBK cold air which is 190 and a Mustang GT which is only 85... and both are identical pipes, only difference is BBK has a diff filter shape? why is it 100 bucks more?

CAI isn't gunna do much. Save your money and throw a K&N drop in filter and call it a day. Or just get one of those cheap ones off of ebay.

To answer your next thread, the best bang for the buck is gears for your car. Grab a set of gears, a master bearing kit, 2 bottles of gear oil, take it to the shop and say install this. You'll be happy you did.

so just buy a filter, not a new cai... and my dad wants me to put a 4:11 gear in it but my friend who knows more about cars says thats to much for an automatic and to put a 3:73 in the back... not sure what a master bearing kit or gear oils do.

I prerfer S&B filters, better build quality/more filter area and JLT/CAI uses them. Man go 4.10's with the auto or 4.30's. I went 4.10 but wish I had gone 4.30. The master bearing kit has all new bearings for the rear end, side bearings included. Get it and pinion shims and side shims if not included. Use 85W140 synthetic gear oil and a couple of bottles of Posi additive, Ford has it. I use Mobil 1 oil. I have 4.10's. You will need a calibrator or tuner for the speedometer.
4.10's are around 66mph at 2500rpm and 4.30 would add about 125rpm to that. Not good if at 80mph a lot but if 65 is the common max go 4.30 gears. In OD te 4.10's become like 2.86 and the 4.30 like 3.00. There is a 70% drive in OD! automatic, 68% with a stick. Hang on! CAI adds almost ZERO!

Converter upgrade and you would need a set of Nitto DR's! Gears change the whole make up of the car, it will be like you have a different one!
