The thought of "neon" being mentioned in the same sentence as "Mustang" makes me gag, unless of course it is like this:

"So I am driving in my Mustang and I see these large neon lights in front of Hooters...."

or,

"Let's take my Mustang to go pick up beer...watch for the neon lights."

or,

"I destroyed some guy in a Neon with my Mustang at that red light last night."

Look I hate ricers but in my opinion neon is really good looking. Hey I'm a h-school student I have enough pressure from dumbasses who want to persuade me to buy a pos rice car. So this is my personal preference.

Hey Blue, don't sweat it. I am just having some fun. If you ask me, the new stang looks a little "rice" anyway.

Wow 4.6 luv that is really mature! I mean I never thought someone would want their own personal preference styling on a car. It's still a stang and I still hate ricers but neon looks cool at night and if you are to pig headed to see around someone having a slightly different taste in car styling then that is just plain dumb. And i'm not being persuaded by others and i won't be persuaded by some close minded people on this site. My style is my style.

Blue, make the car the way you want it. It's yours. But, whenever someone makes a post about an appearance mod....no matter what it is, you have to accept some critics, that's just the way it is.

Neon, is not for me. I am an old fart (37) and it is just not my style. I can see why someone would like it or not like it. Some of the young guys don't like my exhaust. I love it because it sounds like an old '67 with glass packs. That's the sound I remember as a kid, but some of the younger dudes just think it sounds rough.

My car was in a wedding this summer. At the reception, I ran in to a kid (22 year old or so) that I used to know when he was real young. He came up to me and wanted to know who owned the balck vert that was in the wedding (there were 6 stangs in the wedding). I figured he knew it was mine, but he didn't. So I asked him why he was interested and he said "because it looks like an older guy owned". I laughed, because mine did look a lot different than those owned by the younger guys.

I would suspect that they would not be in the way, as others have done this. You may want to check with a mod shop or a different forum.

Speaking as a 17 year old Highschool kid...

it depends on the lift, when you bring it in have them line it up and get under and check it out, thats the only way to be 100% sure.

Blue Thunder, we are just kidding around with you. If you want neon then just put ot on, don't ask us. It's your car. I saw a couple of Mustangs at the track this summer with neon. It looked pretty cool. I guess like Blake said it's a young guy thing. I'm even older than he is. I took my wing off my GT, it now looks more like my 66 coupe I raced in high school. As long as you don't put 22"spinners on it we will cut you some slack.

Did you even bother to read my first question or did you just hear the word neon and immediatly put down your opinion. Anyways your opinion is valid but this was not a disscusion thread it was a Q&A. Thank you to those of you who anwsered my original question.

Some people are so confused on the term "rice"...

Rice is trying to make a car "look" fast without being fast. The cars in the Fast and the Furious (if they actually existed and could do what the movie portrays) are not rice, a heavily modded Mustang with neons, not rice... the guy on Main Street with a Hyundai Tiburon chromed out with a fake hood scoop and a Jaguar Hood emblem (I kid you not!) IS a RICER!

Nothing wrong with making your car look cool... all I care is that the car is as fast as you try to make it look. Rice is more a mindset then a look.

I have never seen any dragster at NRHA finals with neon yet! , nor heavily modified mustangs with neon? Unless its for show car purposes, I think neon is rice!

Anyways man you're in highschool, I can almost gaurantee your taste will change later on.(sooner than you may think) Dont waste your money on them you will be taking them off in a couple years because you will think they look like ****, you will wonder how you ever could have wanted them. Trust me there were days when I thought integras with body kits and wings were the coolest thing ever back when I was 15.

Rice is more of an attitude thing to me. The cars in Fast and Furious are EXTREME RICE in my opinion. A car that looks like it could be fast and is not is just a POSER RICE. A guy that runs fast and catches a football is JIM RICE.

Things like fake hood scoops and such that are for looks only, they are just SILLY RICE LIKE options, but do not make a car RICE by themselves. Now a Neon (as in the car) or a Focus can be RICE LIKE, but an SRT-4 is more a muscle car unless it has ADDED RICE on it.

Here is a rice test. If you have 10 points, you are SERIOUS RICE. If you ahve any points, you have RICE TENDENCIES (not that there is anything wrong with that):

- Imports (5 pts)
- Stickers (1 pt per sticker)
- Neon lights (5 points)
- Gas Shocks that make the go go up and down (10 pts)
- Car lowered more than 1 inch (2 points for each inch over an inch)
- Fart can exhaust (4 points)
- Painted Interior with bright colors (3 pts per panel)
- Oversized Tires (3 pts for every inch added to the rim size larger than stock)
- Having 4 cyclinders (4 pts)
- Having a V-8 (-4 pts)
- V-6 (0 pts)
- Large wing in back (3 pts for every inch it is raised)
- Large wing in back exception (ie a real Cobra R wing) (-3 pts)
- Spinners on the wheels (10 pts)

So, take the test and see how you do:

0 - 3 pts: You secretly are a WANNA B RICE, but can't admit it.
4 - 6 pts: You are an OUT OF THE CLOSET RICE
7 - 10 pts: You are RICE
10 - 13 pts: SERIOUS RICE
13 + pts: you are FLAMMING RICE
