Under drive pullies
OK, Well im about to get a system. (i need king Kong in the truck. lol) 2 12's 1300 watt amp, and i want to get under drive pullies, i was told that if i get under drive pullies that wouldnt get at much power to the amp as much. It this true? or am i just headring bs from other people!
what happens is the pullies will slow down the recharge rate of your battery. thus killing your battery.
well darn, guess i can scratch the pullies off the list. Thanks for the help purestang.
It does slow down the acc. but not alot i have the mach1000 system in my car with aftermarket guages bottle heater etc... I have no charging problems. If up to you really if you wanna do it.
just dont put the alternator pulley on. or get a bigger alternator and put the pulley on. but one thing is true ur guaranteed 9+ horses.

9+ hp gains??? its not that high is it? i thought you were lucky to get 5 out of it..
Just purchase a capacitor. It's cheaper than buying a new alt. Mine systems hit fine and I have underdrive pulleys.
I've only ever seen around 6hp from 4K rpm upwards on 96-04 GT's. Low end doesn't seem to benefit much at all. That's from seeing gobs of dyno tests. They've never seemed worth it other than the Steeda set coming with an SFI approved balancer which usually is kinda expensive. That's the best part of the pullies... the balancer.
huh?? really...from the 5.0 articles ive read ur GAURUNTEED 11+ HORSES. im not saying u guys are wrong but ive seen dyno runs to prove the 11 horses. o well, i like em on my car. and like the guy said i didnt really notice it until mid to high in the rpms. but o well.
maybe its because i have a fox body 5.0, and u guys have 4.6's.
i dont know. but i do know that since ive had them ive had some charging problems. on 5.0's the car doesnt even charge till around 1000 rpms. |

caps do nothing......optima yellow top FTW....pullies are barely worth it....especially if you plan on getting a s/c.....I say skip the system, pullies, and go straight for the s/c.....

hmm about the "caps do nothing" stuff....they keep ur headlights from dimming on the hard bass hits.
I just installed vt stage 2 n/a cams. Have fun with it, I sure as heck wouldn't want to pull it back apart again to put blower cams in 2 years from now. On the the underdrive pulleys subject, I have all 3 steeda underive's on mine and a 700 watt amp on a single 12, no issues with charging or dead batteries as of yet, and they have been on for over 2 yrs now...
well i had my battery slowly die on me, and i have pullies and a system. But new battery has been fine for about 9 months now. So no charging issues yet. But the old battery did slowly die, i knew it was coming. I got the VT stage 2's also, cant wait to get out of this hell hole and put them in when i get home.

Cap means Capacitor, Its for system! |
Anyone who puts much power in amps for a system should consider these BatCaps. My son runs 4400 TRUE watts, three amps, without so much as a dim light when his base hits. He runs two of the model 400's. Just don't skimp on the wire. At least O gauge.
