Nitrous or LT headers
Have the money for either nitrous or LT headers. Not sure which one to get. I also have a BBK short x-pipe no cats in my garage to go with the headers. If nitrous is the way which is the best sytem out there for RW horse power? I was thinking either NX or Venom. What about the Zex system? Help please.
Other mods are a BBK cold air intake, 70mm TB, Trick Flow plenum, March underdrive pullies, Diablo Preadtor, and Flow Master CB exhaust. |
nitrous will give you more power for sure.

How much money do you have? Nitrous isnt cheap when hooked up the right way. Not sure about the Venom stuff, but for NX you need the EFI kit, genx2, window switch, new plugs, possibly new fuel pump, and a tune... Now you could always just get the EFI kit and be able to spray, but I dont recommend that.

Around $700.00, not sure if that is enough. I'm new to the nitrous scene. What is a window switch? Also would i need a new fuel pump with a 75-100 shot? I don't want to go any higher than that until I change some internals.

$700 is not near enough to run it the right way. Id just get the headers.
|
How much would it take and what is the right way? Thanks

You can buy new kit of ebay for about $500 dollar and they come with intallation instructions that anyone with average intelligence can do it! I personally got my edelbrock nitrous kit for $525 of a buddy of mines, it came with all safe equipment and accessories, and it doesn't require a tune unless I want to up the shot! Some kits are plug and play, just depends what you buy! So yeah, in my opinion $700 is more than enough to get a good nitrous kit hooked up right! I've had mines almost 2 yrs now, with no problems! :toothy1:

you need over 1000 to run nitrous correctly. the nx wet kit is 500+. and the upgrade gen2 kit is around 400 i believe. also, your gonna be filing the bottle, getting a tune (500+$$) and its a very careful substance to use for a street car. get the headers. youll get power and a new sound :)

Thanks for all the help. Is NX the way to go? What about Venom or Zex?
|
if you go nitrous. i would go nx.
|
I guess no one has seen the new eldelbrock nitrous kits! :sad7:
|
havent seen them. but maybe someone else has i dont deal with nitrous much

well good. but for reliablitity i would get a tune. some people are luckier than others and no two cars react the same, especially when it comes to forced induction. how much nitrous are you running by the way?
|
I dont see why people would run nitrous without a tune, or even putting the car on the dyno to check a/f and stuff. Its just like any other power adder... I gained about 155rwhp 287rwtq from my NX 100 shot, so Id say go with NX.

Having witnessed a number of nitrous explosions, including one that propelled the car's carburetor through the hood (making quite a hole in process), I recommend that you include expert dyno tuning time (and not just a few pulls, either) in your estimate. Also keep in mind that mods like the exhaust may only add 20 hp or so, but those hp are ALWAYS with you, not only when you have a full bottle turned on. tripleblack |
i agree. go long tubes. if you decide on the nitrous, however i strongly suggest the nx wet kit, the gen2 upgrade package, and a custom dyno tune. good luck with your decision

I was just reading MT's thread and had a question. It said you need to splice into one of the O2 sensors. What if you don't have them hooked up and you have mil elimnators or a tuner that takes care of that. Will taht effect anything?

I bought the SLP Creamic long tube headers from here for $684 bucks shipped so you have enough :)

Yea, the mils are only for the back o2 sensors. If you dont have the front ones in either...I would hope your car was showing a CEL ...
|
As far as I've understood it.. if you have LTs and a O/R pipe, the back ones no longer matter.. but they will throw a code because they sense the absense of your cats. The front o2 sensors are important because they monitor exhaust flow/temperatures stuff like that. You want to get a good tune on your front sensors and have the back ones tuned out normally.
