X-pipe VS. H-pipe

What is the difference between the x-pipe and the h-pipe in performance? Also are there any sound differences? I want to add it to an SLP loud mouth exhaust, any advice? Thanks

There is a sound difference go to mustangexhaust.com to listen to some clips. I also have a sound clip of my xpipe in the video section of this forum.

It really depends on your muffler application! H pipes sound good with any muffler but I have heard that x pipes sound like azz with flows or any kind of chambered muffler! The HP difference between the two is minimal maybe a 2-3 HP difference..nothing noticeable of course! :)

H pipes give you a lower sound and X pipes have a higher pitched sound as a general rule. X pipes are more efficient and will yield more hp on ther top-end. This is why they are used by some many that race. H pipes have been said to yield a few more ponies down low.

I personally think H pipes sound better, but I have an X.

On our cars, o/r x pipes should only be used with chambered mufflers as you need the chambers for some back pressure. For someone on a budget, an o/r X pipe is a great way to add some sound and some hp if you change nothing else. I think o/r X pipes sound great with Flows...but it's a personal choice.

I went with an X pipe due to the fact that the "X" evens out exhaust pulses, thus producing more gain in horsepower. And I'm all about wringing every last pony out of this car as I continue to modify it. My SLP Loud Mouth has a great sound, and I expect I'll make even more noise when I get my X pipe on the car.

What he said! That is why I added the SLP catted X to my Loudmouth!

The MustangTuning piece is a GREAT sounding pipe when paired with a set of Flowmaster 40's. I personally went with the Prochamber. For me, it was a decision of sound over horsepower. I have to drive the car everyday...Im not going to deal with something that sounds bad just for that extra 3 hp. Just a personal opinion.

Any o/r pipe will make your car pretty much scream. Once you get rid of those cats you will never put them back on, trust me ;) I have the SLP catback myself, and I'm going with either the SLP X pipe with race pipes, or the MT o/r X pipe. I had an o/r H pipe with 2 chamber flowmasters on my old stang and it was loud as crap and had a mean sound to it.

installed a MT o/r x pipe last weekend(very pleased with the sound and performance) Just got back from the track and I gained .25 and 3 mph

I went with the Prochamber and wouldn't go with anything else. The Prochamber evens out exhaust pulses better than any other pipe, and consequently yields more power. It has a great sound and at full throttle sounds incredible.......sounds better than any other pipe i've heard.

x pipe

i have a cat delete x pipe and mac cat back and i think it sounds great but then again its a little noisy for some peoples taste but i have seen a lot of cars with h pipes and they all sounded great as well best i can tell the efficiecy of one over the other is very minimal so i chose the one that was on sale good luck

I was using a o/r h-pipe for about a year, and i just changed it to a MT x-pipe and i have 40's flows dumped and i think it sounds great nice and loud and i actually think i feel a difference in performance. :D
