I go to the performance shop on monday, they install the gears and i pick the car up. Well, my bro is in town with his wife and my nephew so from the shot i head down to my folks place, about 30 mile drive. The car felt different, but not as much of a change as i expected.

I go inside, my bro wants to check out my car, so we go out and much to my dismay after drivign 30 miles and being parked for 10 minuits, there is a puddle of oil by my passenger rear tire. I checked the wheel well, YUP, oil splattered all over the wheel well. They managed to F up the seal on the axle. I was leaking oil like crazy, there were 3-4 tablespoons worth of oil on the ground.

So i go back to the place tuesday morning., they check out the car and tell me the seal is busted, but they couldnt do anything about it that day. They also said it had nothing to do with the installation of the gears. Uhh... YAH RIGHT *** WIPE.
So we plan on saturday, then later on i remembered i had a date on saturday with this real cute girl, so today i call them up first thing in the am, i bring the car in and sit there for an hour and a half while they fix it.

The mechanic said there was a piece of metal that got stuck in the seal which caused a small opening which is why it was draining like crazy. They got that fixed, cleaned up the car, and took it for a quick drive and gave it back. The mechanic was cool, even though the service manager said it wasnt thier install job, tyhe mechanic apoligized for the inconvienience, i wasnt charged, and was sent on my way.

Now, it sucks they messed it up in the first place, but they DID fix it for free in a pretty timely manor. So im ok with that.

Got in the car and punched it, HOLY CRAP! There are the 4:10's!!!!!!!
Something about that leak was just bogging the car down. once they got that fixed all of the sudden the car has a nice new sack with some big old ***** <laugh>

Im digging the 4:10's!

IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE YOUR GEARS, THEN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im LOVING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
getting mine in on the 5th with a tranny cooler too. if the gear oil and tranny cooler ever get here.

lol, it doesn't hurt the car.. but it will hurt your wallet cuz you'll use a bit more in gas.

I have enough trouble getting the tires to bite with stock gears. I can't imagine doing it with 4.10's. I know UPA's & LCA's would help a lot with that. I just haven't heard any input on how they make the car handle overall. I want to maintain the curve carving abilities of the car. I don't want to trade that for straight line acceleration.

I believe I will too...i hope it will match my blower perfectly...i may look into 3.73's, but 4.10's seem to be too nice to shy away from

I got 3.73 about a year ago and love them. I would have went with 4.10's but its got too many miles. maybe after a new engine, hopefully in a couple years.

So mileage affects wheither you should or shouldn't get 4:10s?

Stands to reason, the higher the gear the harder on the engine. Even just during normal driving. I went from 1600RPM at 60 to 2200 RPM at 60 with the 3.73's. It had 94000 on it when the gears was put in.

With the type of driving i do with the car I think i would have even more fun with the 4.30s than my 4.10s.
