alright, i wanna ask ya'll HOW MUCH HP GAIN DOES A 01 v6 STANG GET FROM CAI?

my dad thinks its 5%, and im saying if lucky 3-5HP total...someone please gimme PROOF to show him or sumtin

he says WHY get a GT, if u can get a v6 and get a CAI and BOOM as fast a gt...i told him theres a HP difference and he said CAI will fix that?? someone gimme a link or something to prove him wrong...

he said he could get 190HP to 260HP

by doin CAI+EXHAUST+"SuperChip"....

im getting so pissed off at him, he thinks getting those 3 will make a v6 into a GT.....first it was low mioleage on this car he wanted me to get, i found one for 500 more, with 1/2 the miles and is a GT...a yellow 01 gt with 26K miles...and he found a 00 black v6 with 42K miles....sigh

I would deff get the GT over the v6..that sounds like a steal over the v6.

yea, 500 more, and its a GT and NO miles basically...only prob is, its AUTO...i want 5speed...lol...but its a nice yellow 01 with grey leather...

id prefer white or black stang, but yellow is def. my 3rd choice...lol

Put the car on a dyno, then install the CAI, exhaust and superchips and do another run......I know that isn't cheap to do, but it's proof!

If thats what your dad thinks, make a bet with him. Tell him you'll get the car dyno'ed to see what its making now, then add those parts, then dyno again. Tell him if that gets you to 260hp (I'm assuming he's talking flywheel which means you'd show 215 or so at the rear) you'll shut up and keep the V6. If he's wrong, he's gotta reimburse you for the cash you wasted, and lets you get a GT.

However he is your dad and you still live at home, so ultimately you gotta listen to him in terms of whether you're "allowed" to get a GT. Like I told the other kid, if you dont like it, move out. ;) I wasn't allowed to even get a v6 Mustang when I was your age.

Doesnt look too bad. I never like those rims....lol....But its a GT. Probably weasel it down too 8,500 to 9000. I want to get rid of my stock bullets.....though

i could sell those or atlesat the wheels, get some black fr500's? get some body parts, black stripes (or atleast get the scoop black) and im set :) lol

It's more consistant.........I ran 4 consecutive 13.8's in one night. I raced a 2000 5-speed with 4.10's as well he ran a 14.1.

What your dad needs to understand that a lot of these upgrades claim a certain power increase that might be found on non-performance cars.

The mustang already comes chalk full of great parts, so instead of replacing a mediocre part with a performance part and seeing a 20hp gain, you are replacing a performance part with a slightly better performance part and only get 5-10hp.

Now, if the stock stuff on the mustang totally blew monkey balls, then yeah, a cai might give you 20hp by replacing monkey-ball-suck with performance.

Get Straights, then everyone can hear you coming. Then get gears, best bang for the buck.

As for it being an auto, mine is an auto, i still love it. Not as much fun for daily driving thats true, but first time you race some tricked out honda accord and miss a gear or two and get smoked, yer gonna feel like a retard.

The auto's dont miss gears. <grin>

hey man, i know you've been looking. But be patient with finding a good car. I took a month and look what I have :D I didn't even have a car when I was looking, so I was carless for a month. You on the otherhand still have a car to get around in. Honestly though, it's not bad to dream, but try and secure a GT first b4 you start thinking mods. If you don't and then you don't get a GT you're gonna be pissed and seems like the world comes to an end, lol. Don't rush into a car either, your gonna be stuck with it. If you really want a manual then wait for a manual. Me on the otherhand was very particular on a GT with low mileage, and either white or sonic blue. I would of liked a manual but I had to sacrifice something and get an auto.

And Icefreezen, I too would love to hear what mods you have to run 13.8's

ya i took foreva 2 get a car thanx 2 my dad but im glad i waited.......
this is my first car i was carless with my license for year and 3 months and just drove a parents car around

so i ended up wit a 1999 35th anniversary gt with 16,000 miles, black the color i wanted, stick which i wanted, body style i wanted, only thing i missed on was black leather interior but i guess dark grey cloth is fine for now
all for $12,900

true, yellow ISNT my fav, but its up there...and i drive auto now and its good enough...i mean i wouldnt aruge over having an 01yellowGT w/ 26.3K miles for 10.5 (gotta call them to see if they even have the car still...lol)

you dont have to jump on the first 3 mustang you see. if you want something, wait around to find it. mustangs will always be available.

Auto indeed ,CAI, SCT Xcal, 75mm t/b and plenum, catted prochamber, SLP loudmouth, 4.10s And crappy hard tires that didnt hook worth a damn. And I think I had a exhaust leak but still not sure on that. No traction....and I still havent installed my UD's yet. 13.8 by myself .I ran a 14 flat with a passenger

If you added Longtubes, those pulley's and like a 2800Stall convertor what do you think you could run? I'm interested because with your mods and the ones I just listed that's what im having and I'm hoping for mid-low 13's

Autos are fine... we all have some 5spd envy though. I want to row my own gears simply because I get bored.... however my SCT tune will hold them till the motor blows (unlike the stock tune that will protect itself) so I have some manual control for when I get bored or when I need it.

Get yourself a stall converter, cooler, j-mod, and if you're hardcore enough a manual valve body and you'll forget what a stick shift is.

3200 stall dont go lower than 3000........Low 13's on some drags if you dont have drags your gonna spin easy as that. 13.2-13.3 range I think.

I need a tranny cooler before next summer....real bad

Why do you say 3200? My tuner said 2800, but he just threw that number out, we didnt really discuss it. My mods are in my sig, but next spring I'm doing Tb/Plenum, u/d pulleys, a stall convertor, 4.10s and a tranny cooler also.

Well, you sit on the brake and the throttle untill you feel it wants to go, when its time to break free just get off the brake and floor it.

oh yah, it isnt a slow accelleration either. My GT auto launches like a rocket, zero spinning unless the road is wet, hits about 300 past redline when WOT then shifts, pulls right into the powerband and surges forward. Its great! A very good racer could probably smoke me a good amount of time with the same car done in stick, but yer average run-of-the-mill street racer cant outdo the stock GT auto tranny.
Get the J-mod and a good tune and it will take a very very good driver to beat it.

still not as much fun as stick, but the GT auto tranny really kicks ass, most economical automatics have a very nice and polite tranny, the GT's auto tranny is all about performance, but once again, its a machine, a human controlled manual will always have the POTENTIAL of beating it consistantly.

I've always been told that you wont feel less than a 3200 stall.
