Default Black Pony Grill

I was going to wait till spring to install the Mach 1 grill delete and chin spoiler but I couldn't wait so after a night of crawling under my car in the garage they are both installed. I have a couple questions for everyone about the grill though. What's the best way to keep the bottom black plastic part from bending up? I think I've heard of people using double sided tape but I would rather use a clip or something. I don't like the idea of putting tape on the paint even if it is coverd up. Also, has anyone ever seen the pony emblem painted black? My car is DSG and I may go ahead and try painting the pony emblem black today, I think it will either look great or completely dissapear but if anyone has any pics of it feel free to share. thanks

I've thought of that but I think it would disapear.Use the tape it works and won't harm your paint.

I had to dig around the web but finally found a post on another site where the guy showed pics of removing the front right headlight for easy access to the underside of the plastic piece. From there he was able to fit clips on the plastic studs.

Yeah I'm gonna go on a search at Home Depot and see if I can find some clips that will work before I give up and just use the tape. I think I'm gonna go ahead and try painting the emblem black while I'm at it since I have another anyway, just in case I hate the outcome. I'll try to get it done and take some pictures before it gets too dark.

if you really wanna paint it, go to Ford and get touch up paint in DSG and then go get some clear coat. black wouldn't look too good IMO.

I already painted it black and I haven't had a chance to actually see it in sunlight yet but I think it's gonna look pretty good. I did a crappy job of it but you can't really tell unless you get up close and I plan on fixing it up in the spring anyway. I thought of doing it DSG also but there would be no contrast then plus I wouldn't know how to go about painting it and getting a nice finish, it's fairly easy to do get a nice finish just with a spray can. I have off work the rest of the week so I'll post up a pic of it tomorrow and see what you all think. I like it so far but I think I still want to order a second chrome emblem and mount just so I can switch them back and forth easily. Anyone know where I can order just the emblem and mount?

The air brushed emblems are real nice but a little pricey.

Finally got some pictures of it today and I'm pretty damn happy with it. I liked the idea of doing it DSG but now that I got some daytime shots of it I'm much happier with the black I think. At the very least it's something a little different and it still stands out just enough, the chrome is nice but there really isn't anything else chrome on the car so the black fits in well. Keep in mind I used a spray can in 30 degree weather yesterday so it's not perfect but good enough for now...

Ha, the black strip is EZ-pass. There are 2 screws holding the EZ-pass and the plate and I bought a couple of those black caps for the screws just so it looks a lot cleaner. I've never been a big fan of the chrome plate but the gf bought it for me so until I can afford a new front bumpler the plate stays on.
