Cool Help with winter beater

So we got a decent amount of snow for the first time in years up here and really don't like the way the mustang drives in snow/slush. Plus people in washington get scared when they see snow and start running into each other. My winter beater is a 83 Bronco witha brand new carburated 351W the problem it's having is it eat's starters. Flywheels okay and it's the right starter. What happens is everythings okay if you start it when cold but as soon as it gets warmed up and I try to start it the motor cranks slowly starts to grind then the bendix in the starter breaks. My first geuss was timing was off making the motor kick back when hot but the timing is dead on and the cam isn't advanced at all. Any ideas? Gotta get this thing going to avoid ending up with a crunched mustang.

I am not sure this is the best place to ask this question... we all have fuel injection and don't even have to worry about this situation...
Try FullSizeBronco.com
Never been there personally but its the first bronco forum that came up on google...
