well of course trade in is always lower...how many miles on your car? 20 k for an 04 v6, lol wow...8,500 that does kinda suck, but if you trade it in for the cobra you could negotiate the price of the cobra more because the price the gave you

when we bought my stang, we were literally out of the door when he called us back and offered a better price, so stay strong, god i hate car salesman

thats a good idea... he showed me some paper and said they paid 18,200 for the car plus tax, and i got him to sell it to me for 18200 after some talking, so i dono if he'll come down on the price anymore, however i didnt ask him to up the trade in value i was just insulted and thought F*ck him on that, but its something i should ask him about cause they really want to get rid of it im thinking.

im not worried about insurance cause im on my dads civic for paying insurance and i think my moms on the mustang so its not really much at all

Hes lying about 18,200 because if thats the case the guy is wasting his time with you and he will make 0 cents off of this deal. sell your car locally and put it on autotrader.com and cars.com and the local news paper.

tell him you found a better deal on an 01 cobra in a different county with the same specs like mileage and condition, and the price is going to determine where you buy from. dont tell him exactly where but just make it believable.

B-MF'N-S!!!!!

There is no way in hell they paid that much for that Cobra!!! That may have been the pay off on the thing when it was traded in, but no way did they pay that much. If they'll pay that much for a used cobra of that vintage then their wholesaler should be fired.

There loss doesn't have to be your loss... Don't let it be.

from what i hear these is some difference between the motors, most likely ford just used higher quality pistons etc. so they wouldnt have cobras breaking down, besides the obvious part... the supercharger sitting atop it...

03+ also have an iron block to handle the boost better.

insurance is still an issue even though you're on the civic. going from a v6 to a cobra will make a difference on your mom's insurance too.

Its a $200 a year jump for me to go from a GT to an 01 Cobra. I'm 21 with a perfect record.

The 01 and 03 motors are completely different animals. 01 is an aluminum block ( I believe) with a forged crank, but not the rods and pistons. The 03 is an iron block, forged everything, and much better flowing heads than the 01. Get the 01 if you can afford it, but they are right, he's lying about the 18,200 bucks. Be strong, cobras are just going to keep going down in price, so maybe youll have to wait 5 months or so, but just be patient.

thanks for all your help guys

but just as a backup incase my dad doesnt want to help, il tell the car salesman 16k or 17 out the door, and he'll say no and within the 3 or 4 months of winter that i cant drive it maybe he'll change his mind and il get a great deal

To add to this, both cranks are forged but the 01 crank is not as strong as the 03/04 crank.

I hate car salesmen. Why dont you tell those a holes, that you want $15k for yours because that is your pay-off. See if what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

They pull that crap all the dam time.

The kid who traded in that car, bought another one. He owed $18,200 on it, but they only gave him $14,000 for it. He buys another car, they kill him on it to get out from under the Cobra, then they cut a check for $18,200 to the bank to get the pink slip.

A car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

That sir is a fact! This is the exact reason, why I have held on to both of my cars for over three years now. I got tired of making these guys rich.

There is always a better car......

like i said man... being in the car biz....salesmen have to eat too. If he showed you that they paid 18 for the car....BS. Take what their selling it for and take off 4k. You should be around what they own it for and some change. But if they did own it for 18, sometimes they'll throw it out there. No joke. I wholesale cars to customers if it comes to that. Cause if we can put a lot of units out on the road, we get paid for the amount of cars we have out for the month...IN CASH. Look at it like this....3 months ago....i won a 42 inch tv for having the most units out. If they have stickers on the window though...their selling it close to what they own it for.
