Default Spark plug opens gate to hell...(vent part)

Okay...

So I go on a road trip this week to pick up some of my stuff I left in WA.
Me and My brother get there and get our stuff and head back (1366miles one way) we make it there, we get back to Mile Marker 34 on I84E in UTAH. I'm tired I pull over and we sleep.(car idling with the heat on cause it was nipply)

3 hours later...

I'm awake lesgo... BRAPBRAPBRAPBRAP!!! WTF? Sounds like a real bad exhaust leak. We get about a mile down the road and it loses power...

Pull over.

Pop hood.

2nd cylinder from firewall on DS. The plug is no longer in the head. So we walk about 2 miles back to see how far we are from a town (road sign). Sign doesn't say anything of help. We walk 1 mile back to the overpass where the trucker was and He is kind enough to let us look at a map to find out where we are.

TREMONTON,UTAH

On a sunday in the busseling town of TRE(e)monton UTAH, there is not a single automotive store open. Napa had an emergency line. So we call them and pray it's just a spark plug. Put it runs fine. as long as your above 4500 RPM. Odometer self test. 2 codes.

We cell phone it home to my brother's girlfriend tell her to come here and look them up. Now, I admit I talk fast. and I am kind country when I talk. But How many times to you have to spell DTC before someone gets it? Or mustangtuning.COM?!

Screw it, put Jay on the phone. Apparently Retardation is contagious. He could understand a word we said either... Not due to cell phones, but apparently when my brother and I woke up Sunday after being asleep we somehow managed to create our own dialect of english that is only understood when spelled out slow and loud...

Easy fix?

NOPE. Somehow the Fuel Pump was stuck wide open. flooded it out.

Nearest fuel pump?

Salt Lake City...

When can I get it?

Tuesday...

Well crap. I have to be to work monday and so does my bro. I call my mom (hobbs, NM-1100miles away) She tells me to try and get it in running and call her back. No dice. 45 minutes later she calls ME and say she's on the way with a trailer. Kewl. She'll be there in the morning (MONDAY) and get me home to Colorado (where I'm workin').

Hotel room and the sweet precious sleep that comes after being in a Mustang for 60 hours.

Monday morning. Mom should have been there by 6. It's 8:30.

Phone call.

Mom, where you at? We pulled over to sleep we'll be there about lunch.

Kewl.

Denny's for breakfast.

Lunchtime.

Phone Call.

Mom, where you at?

We missed our turn we're in Arizona. (AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH) Don't give up on me we'll be there... by dinner. You'll be home in the morning.

Okay. Thank you.

7pm Mom shows up. Due to a really bad wreck a couple years back she requests that we spend the night and head out in the morning...

Okeedokee. 12 pak of MGD and we're all tucked in nicely.

Tuesday.
Breakfast at Denny's. SERVICE SUCKED. FOOD WAS COLD. DISHES WERE DIRTY.

Mom says, why don't we just go get a fuel pump and put it in then we'll follow you home. I brought the tools...

Mkay.

Napa-gotta order it. Carquest-gotta order it. Ford Dealer- gotta order it.

Salt Lake City here we come.

Napa 181.00 fuel pump in in an hour and a half on the side of Napa wherehouse in a parking lot whilst on the trailer.

(BTW- While we're waiting on the part. At the counter. My aunt is in the parking lot getting attacked by a Pit Bull who wanted to use her lil' poodle for brunch. I'm inside, oblivious. My gimp Mom can't do anything. and finally some people from the warehouse break it up and the owner comes out and gets the dog and takes off. Luckily no broken skin)

Now the car will run at 1500 plus RPMs but won't idle. And it won't run with the fuel pump fuse in.

AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHH HHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ford dealer was behind the Napa warehouse so we take it over there. 85 bucks for diagnostic. Do it. Do it.

I esplain to de guy wha hapon. He don't beleeme?! I sho heem, wha I'm talkn 'bout... He still don beleeme... Scratch hees head....

He starts talkin about flow testing the injectors, droppin the talk and check the fuel pump I just bought. blahblahblahbla-F'nBlah... and now there's a Knock that wasn't there when we rolled it in the shop (cylinder wash brought about piston slap.)

Finally we narrowed it down to the injectors. But he still wants to run all these tests. Nope. I'll buy em myself and put em in cause he's still not sure that's the problem.

6 o clock TUESDAY evening.

Mom, screw it let's load it up and get me home, I can't miss any more work and I live a block away anyway...

Kewl. Carl's JR Mushroom/Swiss $6 Burger Fries and Large Sweetened Lipton Raspberry tea and we're on the way home.

Hour and a half later it starts to rain and the wipers on the F'n truck don't work.

Pull over. Fuse okay. Switch okay. WTF?

Brother starts messing with the Blade arms and they finally start working.

And it abruptly stops raining.

Now I appreciate all my Mom has done. But a $350 weekend just pushed itself into the 2K range. I'm in a freakin Chevy with 3 chain smokers for a 9 hour drive and it's freezin' cold out and I was the only one she trusted to drive. 315 AM we get home and I go into a coma...

I hope tomorrow is better...

GOOD LORD! man that sux. How you didn't backhand that ford mechanic makes me wonder. Atleast you were able to do some of the engine work. And did you and your bro sleep in the car?

My brother wanted to kick his Arse. I just wanted to get home. And yes we slept in the car, alternating until the "incident". After we got towed, we slept in a hotel...

We didn't plan on staying until tuesday, it just ended up that way. We planned on being home tuesday morning. But that didn't work out...
