I think the NASCAR season is too long with too many races. The cars are so far from "stock" that it is ridiculous. You cant tell which brand of car they are anymore without looking at the decals. I like watching Drag racing or sports car racing like the SCCA American Sedan class.

see... i dont like nascar (boring-oval) and the only type of drag racing i like involves people coming right off the streets. No 'Pros" no one carting their car in on a trailer. No big slicks, no nothing, in other words, something my car would go and do, lol.
My favorite ? of course, World Rally

I don't watch Nascar because of all those RULES.If Chevy wins by to much then Ford gets a break. If Dodge wins then Chevy whines. If they can build a car that will run 300 MPH then let 'em run the thing.Just move the grandstands back a little.

I like Nascar. Usually not the first hundreds of laps, more like the last 50. I think its pretty cool that after 500 miles driving 200 mph, the difference in winning and 2nd place can be one one hundreths of a second.

I like to watch it. The rules have ruined the development aspect of it but are the very reason the competiotin is so close and fun to watch. Kind of a catch 22. My favorite is road racing but it is usually very boring to watch due to the distance between the leaders. It has gotten better lately but I can remember some 24hr Daytona races where there was 10 laps between 1st and 2nd. The straight line stomp don't do anything for me. I personally run auto-x with my car which is all I can afford but if I could I'd be road racin. I also sim race Nascar Racing 2003 online in a league which is a lot of fun. There are all kinds of addon tracks and car types for that now for guys that want to road race full time in trans am type cars or even a GT-40. Road Atlanta is a blast in a GT-40.

whew... im not completely alone, ill admit i do sometimes watch the last 5 laps or so if i catch it at the right time, but my problem is nascar seems to be about 95% car 5% driver, its all about who is dialed in better, thats why i love world rally, its about 50/50, ive seen people with great cars spin out or crash cuz they were pushing it trying to gain a few spots, theres a reason marko martin is ahead of the other ford driver, marko is just a better driver. plus theres nothing better then watching a kia broken down cuz it couldnt take it. plus watching the driver and navigator changing tires cuz they got a flat between the stages, on the side of the road with a little jack, its great. and arnt those cars road legal too?
and finally.... i like rally better because you can tell a focus is a focus, a impreza is a impreza, and a citroen is a citroen, with out even seeing the companys logo on the car.

No way man.

You try going down the road in a car at 200 mph being inches away from 4 other cars trying to turn your car on a huge bank.

Not only are they inches away from each other... they rub and bump at those speeds.

I don't care for NASCAR, either; mostly 'cause I already know how to turn left. If I watch automotive sports on TV, I watch drag racing. Otherwise, I just go to the drag strip.

You couldn't be more wrong. It's true in any form of motorsports that a dialed in car can make you look good but don't think for a second those monsters are easy to drive even dialed in. On the high banked oval tracks they have them setup to turn left so going down the straight the driver has to force it to go straight. It pulls left so bad he just eases off the wheel pressure going into the turn and hopes like heck it don't spin then has to force it back straight. You try doing that bumper to bumper and side by side for 500 miles. Those guys are super athletes!

Not trying to start anything, just pointing out the ability the drivers have to have to drive Nascar.

well when i said it was 5 percent driver i didnt say the cars were easy to drive. but typically the winner of the race is the one with the better tuned car for the race. im sure it is hard to drive, technology from the 1960's wasent made to go 200 mph.

and i dont take offence to any comments and i hope you all dont eather, i just like having a good debate!

p.s. im still waiting for a admin to tell me if i can change my name!
