new rims

This is probably the wrong section on the forum, But oh well.. I'm really liking the March sell at AM for rims and tires. I want to get some 18's Black bullets with sumi tires mounted. I really would like to get a promo code but my PM's to them arent being read. I gotta get new tires before the summer anyway, and i've always wanted some black rims..

Comments or help are very welcomed... :D

whitestang04 03-24-2011 10:35 PM

I'll PM one to you in a minute.

rebelyell 03-24-2011 11:38 PM

Thanks whitestang.

Now i got another question. or an opinion from someone. I would love the combo 17x9/17x10.5. ( with the tires). But I would really like to get 18x9 all the way round.

Heck i may even splurge and go 18 DD on the back. There's too many choices aahhhhh....:)

In my oppinion: always stagger. Don't know how much you're willing to spend though. I have 17x9, 17x10.5 - you can't beat the old school muscle car look with wide tires. If I ever upgraded to 18's, they'd be staggered, but I would want the front rim to not have a lip, like the ones on AM do.

Keep us updated on what you go with.

bigkeeko 03-25-2011 05:48 AM

I`ve staggered after reading several threads on here as I wasnt in a position to fuck up and had to get it right 1st time. 18x10 and 18x9 . 295/35 rear and 255/40 front. Looks fantastic IMO. I bought mine from these guys and they were at my door in 5 days! Bear in mind I`m in Scotland so thats pretty special.

whitestang04 03-25-2011 03:23 PM

No problem bud.

I am not a huge fan of the deep dish that AM uses on their 18x9's so I would say go 17's on the front either way and then either 18x10 or 17x10.5 for the rears. My neighbor has 18's in the rear and 17's in the front and it looks pretty damn good.

krenogin 03-25-2011 04:11 PM

I'd go with the 17's. I hate my 18's because tires are so expensive! I'd trade any day to a nice set of 17 inch bullitts with 315's.

Stagger for sure. I got mine from latemodelrestoration and I am very happy with them (17x9-10.5)

I dont have a great picture with the car clean yet but here is one I took on my phone

TUFF 4.6 03-25-2011 05:49 PM

^^^^^ That setup would be the shitz on car Rodney.

The car and wheels look great. It's begging to be lowered though.

rebelyell 03-25-2011 08:53 PM

Thanks everyone, Opinions here always are taken seriously. I think I'm gonna go with the 17's 10.5/ 9 They also look great on most of the customer rides pics. Plus I need to think of price for next set of tires. 17's will be much better for me.. I aint getting richer for some daam reason.. Plus i'll have to lower the car to be where I want to be as far as looks.. :)

venom 03-25-2011 08:59 PM

I have 18 x 11 315s in the rear and tires get really expensive and you have less choices. I would stick with 17s if you are concerned about tire pricing.

Shadow_Stang 03-25-2011 10:06 PM

Don't forget center caps. The ones that come with the AM wheels aren't all that great. Get GT's center caps, or black ones (cheapest option), or if you got the cash: http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/LRS-1130BL-K

Black lug nuts too. (if you're going with black bullitts) imo.

rebelyell 03-25-2011 10:38 PM

I figured I'd just use my center caps from my wheels I got now.. The Pony emblem :) And I didn't even think about the lug nuts. I got the stock ones with the lock key. Maybe i'll just try and shine them up a bit....

Yea, I didn't realize you had the stock ones. I'm so used to my sixer, and the old 15" wheels I ditched. I'd suggest the black lugs... it's just like 20 bucks, and matches.

I bought some center caps on ebay last night. As soon as I put them in I'll give you a few pics. I have staggered black bullitts, and Ill let you see what they look like with super sports. I'm pretty sure you said that springs were your next mod?

drag_racer33 03-26-2011 05:02 AM

If i had the money i would have gone with black lugs and the center caps.
If i lower i would bottom out up here, I already have issues on some roads... our roads are terrible up here

TUFF 4.6 03-26-2011 08:49 AM

Hey drag racer, Those wheels and tires look really good on your car also!
Sorry I left that out.

Agreed on that, That pic helped in my decision to go with staggered black rims

Yea, I want to lower her, but they may not be real soon. I'm actually using money I saved since I payed car off last year.. I also got my new clutch a few months ago, so i need to lay low on spending on my so called "mistress". My wife calls her that..;)

rebelyell 03-26-2011 09:37 PM

Just bought the rims and tires....
  • (2) 17x9 Black Bullitt Wheels
  • (2) 17x10.5 Black Deep Dish Bullitt Wheels

  • (2) Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z 315/35-17 Tires
  • Free Mounting & Balancing
  • Free optional nitrogen fill

whitestang04 03-26-2011 09:49 PM

Congrats man. I am looking forward to the pics.

Shadow_Stang 03-26-2011 10:41 PM

Hell yea, now sell the old wheels for some extra cash, unless you plan on keeping them for the winter months.

zigzagg321 03-26-2011 11:32 PM

Wheels! W00t!

whitestang04 03-27-2011 12:44 AM

Your thread inspired me to replace my yellowed and oxidized "SR" center caps with a new set of Ford Bullitt caps. :D

That's exactly what I did. Found a cheap set on ebay last night. Now I just need some nittos to replace my sumis and I'll be good.

How much did you get them for on ebay? I got the Nittos with the wheels. :p I just had to replace a 315 due to a nail though  $250 down the drain on one tire.

TUFF 4.6 03-27-2011 10:34 AM

Good Choice, Gonna look good!

I got them for 40 bucks. They are the black ones with the running pony emblem. The ones that are normally like 20 bucks a piece. Rediculious.

They were used, but in very good condition judging from the pics and the sellers description of them.

Actually they go for closer to $100 for a set plus $10-15 for shipping. I thought I did good getting a new set for $85 shipped :o

Yea I know.. I meant they go for 20-25 bucks a piece individually, or all together for like 100 or more. That is way too much for center caps. lol, but I think you and I did good on em'.

Now let's find some cheap bullitt side scoops while we wait on rebel to post some wheel pics.

I may have to do that with my center caps if I can find a cheap set this summer

I actually just picked up a set of factory Ford new old stock Bullitt scoops (deletes) for a pretty good price. Shoot me a pm if you want the info on them. ;)

rebelyell 03-28-2011 11:12 PM

Wheels should be here anyday now.. Pics on Friday... LOL.. Lil story to go along with them too.

1. If you are married, expect to answer questions on "why do you need new rims"

I'll start with the questions and answers .

Q. Why do you want those rims for? you said they wouldn't look good unless get lower springs..
A. My wheels right now don't look good without lower springs.

Q. where are you goning to take them to have them put on?
A. They ship here I put them on..

Q. But you don't have one of those air gun thingy's
A. I don't need one, But I would love to have an impact wrench.. I got the compressor.

Q. Can you put those wheels on without one?
A. Umm yes, can you change a flat tire? Same concept.. ( silence for a few mins).

Q. Why did you get nitrogen filled tires? Isn't that dangerous?
A. No it;s inert gas just less water vapor. Oxygen is 78% nitogen.

Q. So it won't blow up if you need to patch a tire or anything?
A. Arrrg, NO... It won't fcking blow up if i need to plug it or have a patch put in.

Lol this went on for about 30 more mins, I finally changed the subject which i should have done much earlier.. My wife I gotta love her though. She's smart as a whip unless it involves anything mechanical... :)

drag_racer33 03-29-2011 05:12 AM

I love this ^, the girl I am dating has some basic mechanic skills... the fun part with that is she wants to learn why everything. Like when we went to get oil when her car was low... why do I need those numbers? Why that one, the other is a better "deal"? Do I need synthetic?
The list goes on. I like that she wants to learn though

Makes you love them even more.. I went through similar scenario when I got My flowmasters after 1 year.

Q. Why do you need new mufflers already.
A. For the sound and better exhaust flow.

Q So your going to put on new mufflers to replace new mufflers? ( hands on hip and big look of dismay)
A. Yes, I may be able to gain some HP too..

Q. why do you need more HP? You can't drive past the speed limit around here..
A. Just in case I need it.. It's a guy thing..

Lord help me if I ever want a real power adder. It would take me 2 days to explain why 300+ hp is a good thing.. LOL.. I would say because it will make my engine burn cleaner, and I'd actually get better gas mileage cause of that... LOL..

drag_racer33 03-30-2011 07:32 AM

Haha, well you wouldn't be lying about milage... technically

venom 03-30-2011 07:50 AM

All you need to say is that it is your hobby that helps you relax. If you are not buying and installing parts you are not enjoying your hobby therefore not relaxing. If that fails you can say Id rather be at home working on the car then out getting into trouble :D

Thats some "good stuff" right there! You should get some kinda Man-Award for that.

krazypony 03-30-2011 09:09 AM

I think I would have considered painting my front 2 rims black or have them pwdr coated, if it was a option and then just get the back 2 from AM...

But it will look good with your black accents you have already. I really need to find 2 new front tires for my car, getting scary with all this rain lately, but my 315's in the rear are holding up nicely!

krazypony 03-30-2011 09:14 AM

I can relate totally to your frustration there rebel... thats to funny!

It's really not flustrating with her. I find it kinda cute when she gets that wrinkled brow. She is genuinely concerned, and that makes me feel good. She just doesn't understand that guys need this kinda stuff. She also doesn't know if I'm on a very open straight road and no cars in sight, I will let my Mustang have at it. ;). Even a stock GT will get to 100+ very nice and quick with plenty of room for more...
