When I was going to school in Florida I almost joined Sigma Chi. Great group of guys; really turned me around on the whole idea of a fraternity.

Friends with a bunch of guys that are. I didn't think it fit my lifestyle and never considered it. There can be a lot gained by being in a frat, but some negatives also.

I've seen Animal House, does that count? I came from a very poor family so we couldn't afford college. How poor were we, you ask? We were so poor, if you didn't wake up on Christmas morning with a hard-on, you didn't have anything to play with!

+1. And they usually 100% of the time fit the stereotype. They just throw out a bunch of **** to look like they don't.

Its a house for parties, getting chicks drunk, and acting like d-bags 24/7. And thats from true hard experience.

Frats are relatively new at my college... 3 years i think? so there isn't any hype about joining them... there are so many other things to join to meet people that no one needs them here anyways

I wouldn't say im pro-frat, but I'll speak of some of the plus sides that I've seen from experience. Although probably not the majority. Some of the frat guys I know have better grades due to having brothers in the same classes to keep each other on track and to study with. A lot of them require community service hours. I am involved in a volunteer service club on campus and we get a some good regular members becuase of that. Due to the activities of the greeks it causes you to become invloved on campus and in the community. We have Fite-Nite that raises money for a charity, and is fun to watch frat guys beat the **** out of each other in a legal way. You can't ignore the fact that you gain connections that can benefit you while in college, and out in the business world. It can teach you how to manage your time, but that's up to you.

That being said, a lot of frat guys are dumbasses, but some I know have gone on to medical, dental, ect, school.

Yeah. Well you all can say what you want. But the guys that give fraternities bad names are the ones who join it only for partying. Theres a lot more to it. I haven't been with the guys a couple weeks and I'm already changing my outlook on things. I feel like I'm growing out of the kid i still am, and going more towards adulthood.

For those of you in favor, i'm sure youve seen the good things. And so far, I havent found a negative yet.

I don't see how someone else hasn't quoted this post full of awesomeness!

I'd be that doom and gloom rocker chick that thinks every single frat boy in the college is gay and I'd probably give all of them dirty looks and make fun of them. Wait... I do that to everyone, whether they're in a fraternity or not. Nevermind.

I did forget to mention that most frat guys have some *** in them, seriously, they are all sorta gay. When you hang around them, you'll see it. Getting slapped on the *** by another dude isn't cool in my book, even if it's playing around, I didn't even know that guy, he's lucky he didn't get punched out of instinct.

Yeah, most are a little gay.

I would rather not have any friends than have to pay for them. I have a few friends that were in a frat and they're cool, but they also kinda still have that frat mentality and they're 28 years old. So you've really changed that much in a day? I mean you said you just got the bid and hanging out with these guys have changed your outlook on life already. Wait until you get out into the real world and really start working. Then you'll have a mind of your own instead of a bunch of dudes telling you how you should be.

If you want me to be honest, I was saying every single thing ALL of you guys said. Until I did all the rush events and met everyone and got an idea of how things worked. I'm serious. I don't care to admit it.

And a lot of the 500 companies CEO's were once in fraternities.

And to boot, daniel tosh was a sigma chi.

Considering most of those fortune 500 companies fell to **** recently....hmmm.

I'm going to say it again. They throw out a bunch of **** to cover up the bad of frats, and they try to act like they build like skills, but like 00blkstanggt I've seen guys who are close to being 30 that still act like the typical party frat douche.

"Life skills" my ***. They make the kids do community service and **** so they can get away with having a "party house" on campus.

If you want to join something that is going to make you into a man and an adult, join the military.

Or if you want to be a man, learn to be independent and not do what a bunch of dudes tell you to do. Be a leader, not a follower.

I don't want to experience getting fisted in the *** by dudes with oversized egos.

I'll leave that one to you thanks. My butt hole gets touched by no one other than Charmin.
