Default Could anybody do a couple carfax checks for me?

So I don't like my Jeep. It's had nothing but problems since the day I bought it. Anyway, I'm currently looking at a couple of Ford Explorer Sport Trac's and would really appreciate it if someone could run a carfax on both of the ones that I'm looking at.

The vins are:

1FMDU77K75UA17007
(2005 Sport Trac Adrenalin 2/~50,000mi)

1FMEU51K77UA27475
(2007 Sport Trac XLT w/~69,000mi)

If anyone could run those and pm me with the results that would be fantastic. I'm trying to be a better buyer and doing what I can to get back into a Ford. I'm reading reviews, looking up every nook and cranny trying to find out absolutely every little thing that I can. So if anyone has any opinions on them feel free to voice them. I'd like to know if looking at a ST is a waste of time or not.

Why not look just look at a truck instead of some weird looking SUV thing?

I dont like sprot-tracs...never understood the point of them. You thought about a 2005+ Tacoma? 5 seater 4 doors and a bed and way better looking.

I like the idea of having the comfort of an SUV combined with the ability of a small pickup. When I think of a truck, I think of someone who would be hauling a trailer or large items frequently. With my specific needs, I don't intend on ever carrying anything larger than maybe some camping equipment and friends.

Can you think of any specific thing you dislike about them aside from their looks?

I did look into Tacoma's, actually. And the 2005+ models - despite being really attractive looking - are really expensive in my area. Even in the 50,000-60,000mi range they're at or near $20+K. I'm looking in the ~$15k range.

I'm not to keen on the sport tracs myself but IMO I would go for a 07+ because they look better and you could get 4.6.

The newer Avalanche is the way to go for suv truck mix but cost lots of $$$$ although they are sexy as hell compared to the fugly old ones.

I absolutely refuse to buy a Chevrolet. Ever. And there is only one 4.6l for sale within 75 miles of where I live. I'd prefer a v8, but I can live with 6 cylinders.

Here are my current top-2 candidates...
'05:
http://denver.craigslist.org/ctd/1941445979.html

Pros: >55,000 miles, it's the fifth year of the same model so there are less first-gen problems.

Cons: From my research I discovered that the '01-'05 model years had bad safety ratings, a tendency to roll over (top heavy), occasional transmission issues on some of the XLT/Adrenalin models in this year.

'07:
http://denver.craigslist.org/ctd/1941639452.html

Pros: Longer wheelbase/higher safety rating (5 star), >70,000mi (although not by much), newer styling/bigger, more comfortable interior. (I'm 6'5'' so a big interior is important)

Cons: Since 2007 was their first year of the remodel I fear first-gen problems that usually occur. I'm also curious why this specific 2007 is listed at $16,999 on craigs, $17,999 on their site, and why other 2007s with similar mileage is at or near $21k.

I have an 05 sport trac, if you have any questions ask. It has a 4.0 motor, and has been decent so far as weve had it.

How long have you had it? Gas mileage okay-ish? I'm at roughly 15-16mpg in my Jeep right now. Has there been any notable problems that you've encountered while owning it?

No, nothing specific. Just dont like the way they look.

Well, taco's cost in the 30's new. They hold their value as well.

I been looking at SUV's and crossovers and came across these types of trucks and they just didnt appeal to me. My family needs a more reliable vehicle and I will be deployed for 12 months and will be able to help them out. I just have to give up my Mazdaspeed which is no big deal. I have no attachment to it.

Good luck with your search. Dont get tied down to a dealership or have them hound you every other day saying they found something for you. I messed up by leaving my number.

Yeah, I've made that mistake before too. Hell, I'm still getting monthly emails from a dealership I gave my email to almost 5 years ago! But no, nowadays I rely on online inventories.

Meh. Tacoma's are nice, but I'm not really a Tacoma person. Anyway, I found a 2007 (with the 4.6L V8) that I like so we'll see what happens.

My dad has a sport trac and I don't think it's anything special. Gas mileage is kinda crappy and doesn't seem to be a whole lot of room in them. But go with whatever you like.

My mom had an '02 4.0 Sport trac and I loved the damn thing. Never had to worry about getting it dirty because it had the vinyl floor, plus it was a lot of fun and pretty damned dependable. I honestly would love to have another one.

Good to hear. Anyway, I have narrowed my search to V8s (2007+). So that '05 Adrenalin and the '07 4.0 XLT are both out. Now I did test drive a black '07 limited with a V8 by my house and it was freaking awesome! So we'll see how that goes...
