my buddy just had his apartment burn down and lost everything including his keys. his blazer is locked up and we can't get in it. you use to be able to buy slimjims at the local auto parts store. i don't think i have seen them in there for a long long time. anyone know where you can pick one up over the counter now days?

Not sure about the rest of the country but here it is largely illegal to possess a slim-jim unless you're a locksmith or a tow truck driver and are in the process of carrying out your official duties. At least in california, just like a lock pick set, it's illegal to have one unless you're a licensed professional and working and it's a normal tool of your trade... they're called burglary tools. So are dent pullers, spark plug insulation ceramic, a ball peen hammer + flat blade screwdriver.
