John,
right-click - properties - security
and you should be able to adjust passwords for files there.

Okay, so I just looked it up and I guess you can't do that on vista. My bad. Alternative?

http://www.truecrypt.org/

Truecrypt is a free open-source disk encryption software, should do the trick.

Hahaha.
So did you gouge out his eyes on principal alone and cut out his toungue so he wouldnt be able to tell anyone?
Cause I would have.
But we could still be friends, of course, being friends with a blind mute might be kind of gay....

How about you put the folder where no one would look, like you said. But make it "hidden" under properties when you right mouse click it. Check read only if you'd like too.

Cause if someone really wanted to look at his ****, all they would have to do is click the "search hidden files" box.

You can put it in a zip or rar file and set a password on it.

i always hide my folders in plane sight pretty much....
what ever color the letters are to say what the folder or icon is, have a background a patter to have a few spots the same color as the letters, name the folder something like, i or l something small, then go to properties of the folder, change the icon, there should be just a clear spot somewhere in the list, click that and apply it to that folder, then move the folder so that the letter is hidden over the spot where the colors match to hide the small letter.....

so that way people don't see it, and unless they know it is there, they won't look hard enough to find it, and they can't really easily search it or anything, i have hidden many things this way...
