Gun suggestions?

Im looking for a new .22 rifle since mine has a broken magazine and the gun has been a complete piece of shit since the day i bought it. looking for something semi-auto w/ a mag, on the cheaper side but not a piece of shit like my Rem 597. Any suggestions? thanks
Just saw sports Authority has the mossburg 702 plinkster on sale for $120 any tthoughts?

Badfish 09-21-2008 10:23 AM

I'm not on expert on .22s, but mossburg makes good guns.

Not sure, I got mine years ago. But they're $185 @ Sports Academy

King 09-21-2008 12:00 PM

Don't you mean Sports Authority? I've never heard of Sports Academy. Anyway, I saw one at our local Sports Authority for $189.99

Yes, sports academy
http://www.academy.com/

lol.

We have a sports authority too, but they no longer sell firearms at ours. Nor does our walmart.

King 09-21-2008 12:12 PM

Man, that sucks. Here you can get a gun practically anywhere. We've got Sports Authority on the south side of town, Super Walmart on the north side, Big 5 Sporting Goods on the east side, basic walmart on the west side, and we've got a few stores in our mall that sell them too.

PColav6 09-21-2008 12:14 PM

I wish we had a Big 5.

SnTBakosFinest 09-21-2008 02:16 PM

I've had my Ruger 10/22 carbine for.. 11 years...love the little fucker to death..

jseven 09-21-2008 02:53 PM

+1 I had one for several years...loved it. wish I hadn't sold it.

99Stang 09-21-2008 03:04 PM

Pricing sounds good i'll stop at a couple places tomorrow on the way home from work to see if they got any to check out. You can mount a scope on them right?

PColav6 09-21-2008 03:05 PM

You have to buy a rail to mount a scope, but it's like $10. Screws into the top of the receiver (there are screws already there for one)

zigzagg321 09-21-2008 04:10 PM

If you get the 10/22 and you want hi capacity magazines for it...get the steel lip version only.

My Ruger is the best .22 I have.

i love my mossberg 500. all u need is to clean it and put it in a good case and your golden.
mossberg is legit!

PColav6 09-22-2008 10:13 AM

Mossberg 590 > Mossberg 500

Fact.

lol

r3dn3ck 09-22-2008 10:15 AM

w00t to that. Ruger 10/22 > * .22LR autos.

I've got at least 3 10/22's. They're possibly one of the best built 22's on the market. Durable, reliable, accurate and there's a gob of goodies on the aftermarket for them.

I like my 500 too. I have the tactical version, but it's still accurate enough to shoot some clays.

another thumbs up for the ruger 10/22

Pffft.. Maverick 88 < 590A1. Haha

Ghostalker 09-23-2008 06:02 AM

As a side note, apparently the mossberg plinkster isnt really a mossberg, just has the label.
I am picking up my new 597 Tech Target on the 7th (damn waiting period) and she is a beauty. Crazy looking thumbhole wood stock (from boyds' ross I believe) and a carbon fiber dipped bull barrel. For the price you can't beat that out of the box. (Just under $300)

99Stang 09-23-2008 04:09 PM

Yea, stopped by the gun store today to check out a few. Going to pick up the 10/22 tomorrow.
