Default How fast have YOU gone

Just another random thought. How fast have you ever been in an automobile.?

My fastest "driving" was in my 79 Z-28 in 1980. on I-95 I hit 115 mph then got sceered and let off. I'm pretty sure I could have gotten at least 125 or 130 mph if I had stayed in it. ( i was only 20 years old then and not the brightest bulb in the lamp).

2 years ago my wife's B-day present for me was Richard Petty's driving experience. Ride along program. Man!! What a ride at 168 mph for the last lap. It takes ***** to drive at that speed, Be it straight line or on a high bank oval. But man it was fun..

Finally,, I think my little GT could get some very impressive MPH. very quick throttle response, plus the gear ratio with the 5 spd manual should haul the mail in at least 4 gears.. Oh yeah I did the amusement park drag race simulator. Very strong acceleration there too with the long wheel base propane powered, no steer, hope it stops thing too. That was fun.

Fastest I've gone was in my old Taurus *blushes*

When I was in High School Montana dropped the speed limit on the highways for a few years... I had to go visit my gf in Billings... from the border to Billings was something like 200 miles... I made it in just under 2 hours

The odometer on the Taurus stopped at 120... I had the needle pegged past that... no idea the speed... but I was hauling! It's fun setting your cruise control at 100

I've done 120 in the GT, and I was with my dad when he took the Cobra up to 140. The cobra is much easier to do since it gets up there MUCH faster than the GT, and feels a lot more stable.

Exclamation 170 Mph

My fastest was in my 1990 Infiniti Q45, my cousin and i hit 170 mph. The speedometer stopped at 160 and it was well past that. It was on the PA turnpike coming from Harrisburg to Malvern. I blew by what i thought was a cop at that speed and knew that i was screwed if he caught me. Long story short, I didn't get caught and didn't see any cops the whole way home. Let me tell you that you come up on cars before you know it. But in my 04 GT, i have only been up to 145 mph and that was on route 3.

Trucks are always fun to lay rubber with, too bad it's only cuz they have a few hundred lbs sittin on the rear wheels. Before I bought my '04 V-6 (which by the way can burn in 3rd ) I test drove a ::edit:: supercharged ::edit:: hemi ram, and I about slost control off the dealers lot because I didn't realize how many horses were under teh hood.

Back when I was younge and stupid, I hit 135 mph in a Dodge Daytona V-6 in Nevada. Car hit the speed limiter and shortly thereafter burned up the fuel pump. I don't know if it was because I was going fast or not.

130 in a 66 Old's Cutlass Vert in the Arizona desert, 5 passegers and luggage. 110 in my GT at the track. Never really tried to see how fast the GT could go before I changed the gears.
120 in my 76 Trans Am, got pissed that it only went 120 and went home threw on long tubes and lost the cat's.
95 the other day in the wife's Crossfire, it's supposed to go 155 but I have not had the chance to test that out yet.

LOL. I bet he felt stoopid. Couldn't he tell you had a pro street rod? I assume it sounds as good as it runs. Probably thought you just needed a tune up the way the cam sounds at idle.

I slammed my GT into 3rd gear tonite on the way home from work and nailed it. Man this little beauty is very stable and tight. I hit 95 mph in a few secs and let off. Man my first ford and I'm very impressed.. Cant wait to take it somewhere to really see what she'll do. Yeehaw

my truck did 144max. guess the 4.10's and drag suspension didnt help my handleing though, as it would slid all over the place above 120.
