Default SPEED ENFORCEMENT CAMERAS

they are setting these things up...i'm watching a news segment on it now...thats bullshit....they clocked a guy at 131 on an EMPTY highway late at night....come on now...thats total bullshit....wtf...that blows...whats the big deal if you push it on an empty highway...okay...if they wanna do that **** then i guess we have to take it back to the regular streets...its like when the put speed bumps on fountain avenue in brooklyn...that used to be the late night mecca...it was a empty area near nothing that we all raced on every night...they ruined it and that why the ricers are all over the highways and residential areas now

Are you just talking about those signs that tell you your speed as you drive by and then flash when you go over the speed limit? Kinda like what they have one random streets. If so, I've seen one on the highway coming back from Laughlin/Vegas area.

they started puting that **** up here in colorado.

then some kickass lawyer got a ticket, and found that it states in colorado law that a law enforcement officer has to witness the infraction as it occurrs.

and a camera is not a law enforcement official.

so now we have a bunch of flashing camera lights, but no tickets.

lol

Don't break the law= you don't get a ticket.

Am I missing something?

I can see the case now....

"But Mr. Judge, while I was breaking the law and driving 130 mph, there was no one around, so it really does not matter."

Yeah, I can see a judge going along with that - lol

You could use the same line on your wife:

"honey, all was fine with me having sex with your sister, until you caught me"

On the other hand, I am no friend of cameras. Legally, I don't like them.

#1 - You can't arrest a car. You need to prove who is behind the wheel and the cameras don't always catch this.

#2 - I think taking a photo of someone is invasion of privacy especially if that person is in their own car.

Thankfully, they don't use them here yet.

I'm just waiting for the day that someone else is driving my car and gets a ticket for 100+. That'll be fun in court when they're trying to put it on me.

Really, unless someone can prove who the driver is, I think this is rediculous.

not worried about being arrested but its the same theory behind the red light camera...its a fine on the car, doesnt matter who drove it...and they seem to stick that one on you without much problem....if you dont pay it you get towed...as for the just dont break the law theory comparing it to banging your wifes sister thats not a valid argument....because this car aint a wife....we didnt buy the mustang to go slow....a more valid comparison would be bangin the town **** on the beach....goin fast is what the mustang is for....its all about havin fun....if you own a mustang gt and you are on an empty road late at night with no cars around and you stay in the speed limit...THEN YOU ARE A P*SSY....if you are tellin me you bought a mustang gt with its lousy gas mileage and higher insurance rates just so you can obey every traffic law you are a liar....if this speed camera catches on then i'm getting a humvee...because personally if i cant go wot in my mustang then it has no purpose

I caught a little bit of that segment... they claimed that it was already reducing average speed limits in the two different areas they had them up. But one guy, who isn't as dumb as the people that designed this system, pointed out that people are just slowing down for the cameras and then going back to whatever speed they were doing. So basically it's not going to do a whole lot unless they put cameras on every mile of road.

You are suppose to come face to face with your accusor. Thats why your ticket gets dissmissed if the cop doesnt show up. Those red lights cameras are no good as it has been proven that the company who operates that only makes money on tickets. They will speed up the rate at which the light turns from green to red to issue more citations. Government is not here to help us but take as much money away from you as possible. Big brother is watching.

Let some lawyer with alot of time argue it. Just google search and you will find alot of good info. http://www.highwayrobbery.net/

Problem is that you have extra money to pursue a case or if you are an attorney, can you make a difference. Just because your local government makes a new law or adds this device doesnt mean its ok, you can fight but either you need money or knowledge and time.

I suggest you start a group to map all the lights and make it availble to everyone.

Wake up....a Mustang is not some race car. It is just a car with a little more hp then average. Who do you think your are? Mario Andretti? The streets are not your personal race track, so stop using them that way. I don't care if the road is deserted or not. Try using that one on the judge and see if it sticks. Half the dam cars on the road have as much hp as a Mustang.....this is not a Forumla One Race Car.

So, when you call me a *****, know this......I am a combat veteran.

People who obey the laws and have respect for others, are not pussies.

this is what we do in germany...they have cameras on the autobahns but in the slower sections of it. the speed limit will go from the recommended 130 KPH (80MPH) to 100 KPH or 80 KPH. i got flashed cruising at 110 KPH in a 80 KPH zone. i didnt realize the speed limit changed its been nearly 2 months and still no ticket.

thats shitty cameras in the states they have to be obivoulsy placed on the road they look like big bird houses out here where i live.

there's one on Washington in Fremont. They have a sign up for like 10 years that says speed cameras in use. 10 years I've been doing 25 over past the camera, never gotten a ticket probably because (IIRC) in Cali you have to be ticketed by an officer for a speed violation (and several other specific violations) and they have to be able to verify that it was you driving, you breaking the limit and you they give the ticket to. Cameras are obviously a stupid trick to get more money into government coffers. So many radar tickets were beaten in California because of the indirect nature of radar that they've issued Lidar to all the CHP now as it's a much more direct and aimed beam, easier to nail a specific car with 100% accuracy.

You want to stop this big brother bullshit, then take action. I will not allow a functinoing speed camera to live in my area. If that means putting a 12ga slug into it, cutting the pole down, clogging the camera lens with paint or whatever that's what it's gunna have to be. You want to stop the nightmare big brother scenario from happening, run against your local officials that try to put these in your town, your county, your state. When they do get put up, cut them down (plasma cutters work like a charm) or disable them or best of all...steal them and return them in .25" squares to the Earth.

Tommy, (is that your name?)....have I ever pushed it? Certainly. Agree....I did not put a blower in my car just because I like the sound of it, though, I have seen many folks at car shows with 500 hp cars and they are trailer queens. I have certainly broken the speed limit a time or two....or three. I think we have all been guilty of this.

I also think that there is a difference between going 100 miles per hour in a school zone right as the kindergarten is getting out, 100 miles per hour in rush hour traffic, and finding a lonely road and getting on it. While it is all wrong, there is clearly a level of "how much wrong" with each of these situations.

However, with all that said, I am 100% against street racing.....organized or not. As a admin on this site, I have a responsibility to take a strong position against all forms of street racing. As someone who shares the road with you.....I don't want it either....not next to me.

As a driver, we all have the right to be able to drive on a street and not have someone else on the road who is driving in a menancing fashion. Racing needs to be kept at the track.

I also think that while a Mustang is a spirited car and can do more then a Camry, it is not a race car.

There are plenty of kids in Camrys who drive like morons too....what should we say to them? "Hey idiot....it is a Camry?" Just like someone with a better car could say to a Mustang owner.

All I am saying is that we need to be responsible and considerate of other drivers. AND, that I can't take a position to promote street racing on this site. I do, however, allow conversation about it.

I think it is healthy for you and I to argue about it.....the discussions are good for the community and bring the issue to surface. I am not here to make it my mission to stop street racing, but when the issue comes up, I might be inclined to say something about it espcecially to someone who calls themself "streetracer".

You are entittled to keep whatever name you want and you are entittled to disagree with me on this forum. You, or anyone else, however, will not be entittled to schedule illegal events etc... which you have not done.

So, while you disagree with me on the matter, I appreciate you for being respectful to me and other members on this forum.

I could have easily just deleted posts when the subject comes up, but I do not.

I think one of the main differences between street racing and legal racing at a track, is that at a track the winner is generally decided by who got to the end of the track the fatest. For street racing, the winner is often times the person with the biggest set of *****, the craziest, or who is the most stupid....depending on how you look at it. If you are I were to race, and I was winning, but wimped-out at 100 mph, or even at 65 mph, but you kept going, you would be the winner. It is like a game of chicken rather then who has the fastest car. I know some street racing is more organized, but I think I have cpatured my point.

As such, people then push cars beyond the ability of the car and of the driver. Mustangs can go 140 mph, but it does not mean that they should, nor should the driver.

At the end of the race, what has been accomplished? Am I a better person for racing another stang, or an ST-40? No. Did I prove that I have more *****, or just a faster car. Either way, who gives a dam. I don't need this to feel good about myselkf or my car.

I admit, the tempation can be significant sometimes, but you have to resist because the value of the outcome means nothing unless you are racing for pinks or for chicks.

I know it's beside the point but there is no reasonable expectation of privacy if you're driving your car in a public place. Any body with a camera can take photos of you driving your car and there's nothing you can do about it.
