Computer help
Ok so even my dad, who works on computers for a living (he doesn't have as much hands on now that he started his own company so he is rusty) can't figure out this problem i am having. I will try to expain it the best i can. but i really need to get this working proporly.
OK so every time i try to use my CDROM a lil error message pops up that reads.
MSSETUP
No hardward device found! please install your hardward card first!
when it started, I started to use torrent files on my computer, and i was running out of room on my 80g hard drive so i decided that i would get rid of windows on that one and make a seprate drive just for windows. I went and found a 6g drive that my dad used on one of his computers before he took it apart because of some reason that i'm not 100% sure on it was along the line that it had files from his previous employer, and they sued him or something like that. so i instaled windows XP on it. and took it off my 80g so now that one only has music and movies on it. but i can't get any of my disks to read, so i can't get windows to work properly with my motherboard. like i don't have sound, crappy graphics, and a couple other miss. things. I really need to get this cd installed but my computer won't let me. I have already tried downloading the updated to the CDROM but that has no effects. I'm stumped. I begening to think that its the harddrive but i'm not sure. If i can get it to work without having to reinstall windows on my big harddrive i would love that. cna yall help??

What do you have installed on your computer right now on the ide channels. The harddrive needs to be primary or master on ide channel 1 and the cd rom drive can be alos a master on the ide channel 2. Also make sure the jumpers on the back of the harddrive and CD are set correct to master. If you only have only one ide cable then hard drive need to be jumpered as master and cd rom as slave. You will need to connect the ide cable to ide channel 1 on mobo then cd rom and lastly harddrive. The master device is last on the ide cable.
