2001 R6
just want to get some opinions from you guys who have or had bikes...i found a 2001 yamaha R6 600cc blue, missing the front fareing/windshield, i guess the guy laid the bike down once, cracked the plastic in the front so he just took it off, but eveything works properly and bike looks good in general has 6500 miles on it, hes asking $3200 obo, im not in a big hurry to get a bike but if thats like some kind of excellent deal i might step on that...so my question is IS THAT A DEAL?

depending on what needs replaced your going to have to spend 500-1000 to fix it. 3200 aint bad but, i really wouldnt want to by a bike that needs to be fixed, he might have messed up the forks or frame, and the bike might not be safe.

Plastics are normally like 500 a peice, for one. 2, since hes already laid it down, thats a bad sign.. Also, a bike isn't like a car, 6500 miles can be quite a bit.. you might just want to continue shopping around..

yea i diddnt really wanna get a bike that id have to put much into, and i diddnt wanna get a bike that had been laid down..BUT i figured if thats a real good deal id just buy it fix the broken parts and sell it for more at the end of summer and get somthing nicer next summer!!...but sounds like it may not be the best idea lol..i just dont know much about the yamaha bikes an stuff..ideally id like to get a CBR 600 saw one the other day for 3500 but it had a buncha miles on it

honda makes great bikes, In have a 2004 cbr600 f4i. miles arent really a big deal on honda bikes, i know a guy with the same bike as mine and has 100,000 miles on it and runs like new. GSXR's are nice but the quality isnt the best. cant go worn with a honda (bike).
BTW dont be dumb and listen to people that say that 600's are too slow or too small. i gurantee you will never use the 600 to its full potential. I know people that ride 1000's + on the street but ride 600's on the track and they pass 1000's all day long. ive seen a 250 beat a 1000 on the track.

no i fully realize how fast a 600 is...friend of mine took a 94 cbr 600 with a buncha miles on it to the track..bike was mostly stock and he was new at riding and pulled a mid 11 outa it in the 1/4 after that was when i realized how fast those bikes really are..
