Default Insurence

my insurence rright now is 4200 because i got into a accidente and it double..those basterds. But i was told that it would go back down after 3 years (hav 2 left). Does that mean that it will start going back down or it will go down to what it originally was. And would it go down faster if i sold the stang and got a earlier v6.

4200 for a freaking v6?!?!?!?!?!?!!? damn dude even if you werent in an accident 2100 for a sixer is a real rip off. who do you have your insurance with? PM TClark22 to see how he has his sixer insured. i think that he only pays close to 1000 a year. i pay about 1500 a year for my GT

If you are paying $4200 a year for V-6 (or really any car) it is time to start taking the bus. That is insane and a complete waste of resources. Do you have any idea what $4200 could buy? Imagine being able to invest that much money in something worthy. Dang.

id get some quotes at other insurAnce companies too. 4200 a year is 350 and i pay that for my car payment AND insurance.

Of course since you've had the accident, thats a prime factor. Age, location, and past driving record also plays a part in insurAnce costs. im guessing you have a few speeding tickets...

only way to get your insurance down is to sell it and buy something else. id look into cars that are really popular like ford taurus, chevy cavalier, chevy malibu, ect... usually cars that are flooded on the market are cheaper on insurance.

To answer your question, most insurance companies surcharge differently in that 3 year span. 1st year is like a 30% surcharge, 2nd year is a 20% surcharge and the 3rd year is like 10% surcharge. Then there will be nothing after the 3 years.

Couple options:
Is there a loan on the car? If not then drop to liability only or raise your comprehensive and collision deductibles to a higher amount.
When you say older V6 what do you mean. I know there wont be much of a difference between your 01 and say a 96.

Id definitely look around to other companies though. $4200/year for a V6 with 1 accident is rediculous. It should be $2800 tops!

I live in Jersey (the worst state for insurance) and I pay $2,400 a year and I have a GT and that was w/ 2 points on my license and I'm 18! The trick is to register the car under your parent's name and get nothing more than the state minimum. Remember, GEICO, so easy a caveman can do it!

That was your mistake, it usually is more worth it to not report it. Hell, I hit a tree and bit the bullet to pay $2,115 for repair (probably would have been cheaper if I bought the parts) since it would have killed me in insurance. Also, like I said, go bare-bone basics (liability and theft) and you will be amazed how cheap it will be.

I have a new 3100 square foot house, three cars including a Suburban, a new Sabb, a 20 foot boat, and a Vert SuperCharged GT and pay less then $300 a month for EVERHYTHING.

You are getting killed becaus eyou are young, drive a Mustang, and live in Ca. For that, you get rediculous traffic, tons of smog, and prolly high grime rates. I used to live in Ca and these are all the reasons why I don't live there anymore.

Unfortunately, if you want to lower your insurance you need to do the following:

1 - Move

2 - Get older

3 - Get married

4 - Get rid of the car.

What is sad is that you guys in Ca. are used to getting _ucked you don't even notice it anymore. You justify it by thinking it is OK because your neighbor is getting hosed also. Ca. is out of control! Soo many people have nice, huge SUV's out there yet do nothing but sit in traffic. You can't even enjoy driving....not to mention that you also pay about $0.75 more a gallon for gas then most other places and yet nobody car pools and there is no mass-transit (at least in LA).

I feel for you bud....this is why I moved away to a place where I think the quality of life is way better. Sure, it was 5 degrees today (lol), but hey, that's the price I pay.

He still has hope. I live in the state w/ the worst insurance rates (worse than CA) and I'm getting less. Just talk to your parents and maybe even shop around for another company. Under my parents old company (Amica), my insurance would have been around $4,000 and I wouldn not quailify for discounts just because I'm 18. So, we switched to GEICO and now are paying 1/2 that. First, see what happens when you go bare-bone basics. Also, if a little fender bender happens again, don't tell them.

you still shouldnt be paying that much for a sixer. i would think that for an 18 year old, with 1 accident and no tickets the insurance should be no more than 2500 a year. i pay about 1500 a year (as stated above) and 1000 a year for my sable ls (the one with the 200hp engine)

I dunno, I pay $2600 a year, I'm insured on my stang and on a f150... it jumped up a little bit (not too much) after I got a ticket, and didn't go to traffic school, that was about a year ago now.

I do my insurance through State Farm..

And lets see...

1. I'm young (18, got the stang when i was 17, and was insured on the f150 when i was 16)
2. I live in CA
3. I'm single
4. I refuse to get rid of the stang.

But Water is right, we are royally getting _ucked in the ***, hard. OUr gas is more expensive, our insurance is for some reason, out the ***, on EVERYTHING, real estate is expensive as hell, and we don't think anything about it, cause the dude next door, is also getting boned. HOWEVER our wages tend to be more. (Depending on what you do.) Which is why I'm saving and once I have a decent career, i'm getting the hell out of here, and buying a house somewhere else, that would cost like...500k here, and thats only 250k somewhere else. ;x

Shop around on your insurance..

The only thing that is going to help you is to get older before you get a mustang. My insurance is like under $500 a year on a GT.
