If you could LIVE anywhere in the U.S., where would you?

Where would you ideally love to live in the U.S. if economy, money, cost of living, etc. etc. was not an issue?

I've lived in Ohio all my life, and it's a little too cold for me in the winters. Consistent 15-35 degrees for 2-3 solid months.

Climate wise, I think somewhere in South Carolina about 2 hours from the coast would be awesome for me. I LOVE North Carolina, but would like it too be slightly warmer in the winter. Stay above 40* always in the winter.

So, where would you live?

machnjo 12-17-2006 04:47 PM

I want to live where I am, Austin, Texas !!!

Slither 12-17-2006 05:14 PM

Pensacola isn't too bad but I would like to live someplace like Denver, Chicago, Atlanta, or Virginia one day. They are all different from one another but GREAT cities.

Ghostalker 12-17-2006 05:17 PM

Ive recently thought Houston would be a nice place to live... nice and warm...

Pilks 12-17-2006 05:17 PM

some pooor ass country so my american dollars can make me a rich king

WaterDR 12-17-2006 05:17 PM

Weather: San Diego

Cost of Living: Not in Ca. or New England

Schools: not in the south....preferably in the MW

Jobs: Where you can get one, but look for a growing community

With that said, Twin Cities has everything except for the harsh winters. But that's how we keep the riff-raff away.

I like what I hear about TX too, but you really have to watch the schools. Some of you guys who have lived in the south all your lives have no idea how poor the education is until you live somewhere else. And when you consider eduction standards, it is not just what you will learn but also everyone else around you learns. When you have an educated work force, good jobs follow too.

Ultimately, you can make virtually anyhere a home. Home is what you make it.

PureStang 12-17-2006 05:17 PM

id live at home. lol

but seriously, i would like to live somewhere that has a lot more to do than here. like somewhere that has a nice beach (not the OC, NJ for those who live in the northern states.) I liked myrtle beach a lot. any where below maryland really. cali would be nice but emissions suck. lol

csledd 12-17-2006 05:32 PM

I visited Dallas for a week one year and loved the area.. I wouldn't mind living like right around Plano, TX.. seemed like a pretty nice area. The west coast is nice, but I don't think I could stay there for the rest of my life.

spike_africa 12-17-2006 05:33 PM

Go back home ot the keys for sure.

whitethunder46 12-17-2006 05:57 PM

I wouldn't mind Texas even though I don't really know anything about it. I'd definitely want to live in a nice suburban area very close to a large city.

The only beef with Texas is I've heard the humidity in the summer's are outrageous.

I don't like cold, but I don't like high humidity either.

And school's should play a mix as well.

I was in TX in the middle of July and it was hot as ****, but the humidity was nothing like what we get in Kentucky. In kentucky in the summer you can't ****in breathe lol

swervo 12-17-2006 06:11 PM

I'd like to move back to cali, because that's where Im from and all my family is there. Other than that, I'd say Atlanta, because MPH isnt that far away.

WaterDR 12-17-2006 06:13 PM

Yea seems like if you live where the weather is good in the winter, it can be hot as hell in the summer.

I loved the summers in the poconos. Rarely was it in the 90's and never humid.

San Diego has the greatest weather besides Hawaii.

I've always thought of Georgia. Florida is too far south, populated, and a little too hot. Georgia and SC I think would be on the top of my list.

I kinda like Arizona also, Phoenix is a cool city. I see myself more of an East coast kinda guy though.

You are definitely right. Lived in both places, only thing about hawaii, is you get island fever. You just get sick of being on a damn island with no where to go. Just drive around the island.

95STANG 12-17-2006 06:19 PM

Chicago, idc that its cold in the winter. I love that city so much.

MattJ 12-17-2006 06:28 PM

Probably marco island, florida. i got family there and i was there in june/july and oct/nov.

I Live In Los Angeles, can't think of a better place.............The weather is great! Almost anything in the world you'd want to do is here......Cost of Living is High, but you also make more money so it even outs. Sunny Southern CA!

I hear ya dude....I love the SF Bay Area, but I like SoCal's weather better. I'd probably like to live in Orange County somewhere.....maybe Laguna Beach....that's if I was rich though!

dark_thunder 12-18-2006 09:26 AM

I think Colorado would be a great place to live. Build a cabin in the mountains; the cold weather wouldn't bother me. I would go hiking in the summer and hunt all year round. Might even try snowboarding

xlr8r 12-18-2006 09:46 AM

there is a town outside of pheonix called coolage. think thats how you spell it. the cost of living is fairly cheap. its like 30 mins outside. summers get a little warm but there is no humidity. (no rust either) the only down side is 1 month out of the year is monsoon season. hundreds of looooong strait aways.

take that back!!! you don't want to live in VA. Weather is usually nice, not too hot or too cold but damn this state is boring.

00blkstanggt 12-18-2006 11:54 AM

I would be a tough decision between staying in the Cali Bay Area or moving back down to Orange County. The people up here are a lot more friendly and real, but the weather is much nicer down south and the women are way hotter.

Jack The Ripper 12-18-2006 11:56 AM

Anywhere?.... well.. hell, i'd live in Natalie Portmans Panties. :Woot:

Naa but seriously. maybe charlen threron's....

lol

yah, Coloraod is nice. T\Nice mild summers, mild winters (believe it or not, we dont get muchy snow and it doesent get as cold as a lot of places). We got skiing, snowmoarding, lots of places to go hiking, denver is a great city.
Not to mention it is the MICRO BREW CAPITOL OF THE US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anybody else who wants to try to claim that title is wrong. lol.

the only thing we are missing is a beach, then it would be perfect.

if i wad gonna live anywhere else, i'd have to kick it with machnjo in Austin. my brother is down there and every time i visit i dont wanna come back to Colorado.

SlicK 12-18-2006 11:58 AM

I'd like to live in Kansas City, MI. I'm a huge Chiefs fan and I've actually been there. The downtown area is fun as hell at night and their climate isn't bad. Ohio's sucks. It gets down never 0 every now and then in the winter and that's a little much for me.

Laguna Beach really isn't full of rich people. It's not like Beverly Hills or Bel Air where pretty much every house is over a mill. The show just focuses around that small area of Laguna where those kids are rich. I've got a buddy that goes to a small college in Cali right next to Laguna beach and the people there get upset because if someone asks them where they're from and they say Laguna beach, every one automatically assumes they're rich.

LOL.. yeah, i lived in fairborn up by wpafb....

there wasnt much out there, i'd it was not the worst place ive lived.

i was in Wichita Falls Tx for about 7 months during training. that place made Dayton Ohio look like New York City. ... lol....

witchita just had this dead feel to it. completly lifeless. all there was to do was go to the sikes center mall. ugh.

that place was just depressing as hell.

thingstodotoGT 12-18-2006 09:13 PM

Laguna Beach

Well........Laguna Beach is pretty pricey.......I doubt there is a house there for under a million dollars. I actually live in Orange County, and work in Los Angeles....yes I drive way too far for work LOL. So from Laguna Beach down to San Diego is pretty much the Beverly Hills of Orange County..........It's a gorgeous place to even just drive by! Everyone should visit LA at least once...........

I wasn't basing that on the stupid tv show....I've actually been there several times and have some friends that live there so that's what I was basing it on. Yeah not every single person in Laguna Beach is rich, but A LOT of them are. You should go see it with your own eyes, it's probably one of the most beautiful places in California....in my opinion anyway.

can't blame yyou man. Arizona is nice in the winter time...although it's been pretty chilly this winter....but the summers are insane. 110 in the shade doesn't do anything for me. I grew up in the MW and it was good but i'd never go back. So. Cal is the place for me. I'm going to move to LA in the next 2 years. :) can't wait.

Oh and those houses in Laguna Niguel aren't priced that bad. But they are small as hell!!!!!

I've been doing some research of housing around Phoenix area. For at least a 3 bed, 2 bath and at least 2,500 sq ft. will cost a solid $400,000.

I've found a few that were very nice that were 2/3 beds, 2 baths for under $300,000, but they all were very small... 1,600 sq. ft. or smaller.

I'm going to start researching Georgia. Anyone know of anything about Marietta, GA? It's a few miles NW of Atlanta.

$400k for a 2,500 sq ft house is a damn good deal. I paid $400k for my townhouse that is 1,300 sq ft. Arizona is a hot market right now!

I'm used to seeing 2000+ sq ft. houses for $250,000 or less in my area.
