1 JL HO-10/W6= {465$} (subwoofer)

1 JL 250/1 {325$} (amplifier)

ALPINE SPX-177R {350$} (upgraded door speakers)

ALPINE SRP-17LP {145$} (upgraded rear speakers)

JL 300/4 {425$} (amplifier for front and rear speakers)

LOC 4in {100$} (not upgrading head unit so need this for everything to work)

EVERYTHING INSTALLED {300$} 5yr warranty on all parts

Any of you sound guys or people in general think this is a good setup and everything.

I used to be a huge audio guy. I had a subscription to Car Audio each month. I never had JL but most of my friends did and they loved them. I think most JL people kinda stick to that brand whenever they get new stuff so I think that is a good choice. I Know JL of yesteryear was awesome but don't know much about the new series. Alpine is Alpine. I have always been a Kenwood guy for mids and highs but I don't guess you could go wrong with Alpine either. Only thing is, I don't know about a JL amp. Kenwood makes great amps so maybe compare specs and prices between the 2. They are pretty close in price I think. The price for one 10" sub seems pretty steep though. But like I said it has been years since I have priced JL. Sounds like a great setup though and 5 yr warranty is always good. What does that cover though? Sometimes you gotta read the small print because you could get screwed.

JL is badass, I loved mine I had. I had 2 12" W6's in a tahoe, s-10 and Blazer! They pounded! And lasted through all 3 cars and still sounded great!

JL W6 for $500? F-that, You can get a JL W7 13" for 7-800 and it will sound like 5 of those 10's.

Shop around you are getting hosed.

In my wife's durango I got:
Rockford Fosgate Punch P2 12" sub
box for the sub
Rockford Fosgate Punch 600W amp
(4) Pioneer 5 1/4" 3 ways (to replace factory door speakers)
Pioneer in dash CD player
amp wiring kit, CD player wiring kit, and bezel

everything installed for $800.

You are getting ripped off something serious! Where are you looking to get this setup? Don't go to hifi buys or circuit city they are expensive. Go to Best Buy, that is where I got my wifes set up, and they did a good job. Just do like I did, stay there with the car and watch them, for 2 reasons. 1 They know you are watching so they take care in dissassembly and reassembly and 2. They get it done quicker knowing you are watching. Plus, if you buy it there, talk to the person working back in the audio and don't pay full price for it all. My wife's set up was going to cost $1,100, but I talked them down on everything and got most of the stuff installed for free or discounted. If you are buying a complete set up like you seem to be doing they will work with you on price to make the sell!!!!!

WHY do you need all of this stuff>? its pointless, I have a 600 watt sony amp and one audiobahn amp, and i am happy with it. What could you possibly do with all that junk, sell your car and use that 1200 dollars towards a car where you dont have to make yourslef with going over the top with pointless junk to make yourself feel like you have a car you want

Where do you guys think I can get the same stuff but for cheaper. This is the exact setup that the guy who is selling me it has in his car and it so sounds crisp and the bass is not shakey at all very clean sounding system.

They will rape you in incstall charges. But go to hifibuys (not online, the store itself). I got my 2 JL W6's in a JL box for $500. They usually have stuff in the store pretty cheap. Buy everything yourself and then find a good place that will do the install at a cheap price, or hell install it yourself, it's not hard at all, just a pain sometimes to take everything apart.

Or do like in my above post, the best overall (price and install) place is Best Buy. They don't carry JL, but they have Rockford Fosgate, which like I said I have in my wife's Durango. and that 1 Punch 12" P2 hits pretty damn hard! Check their sale papers or online, they almost always have a special for free install.

in that case don't waste your money and get a W6, you just need a W0 or W1. That there will save you a lot.

What I think im going to do after tlking to rabbit a bit is we decided that I should get the door speakers that I listed above but not the w6 im going to go with 2 W1's and get 2 seperate amps for the speakers and subs this will save me about 400$ and since i dont want hardcore bass the w6 we decided was not necessary

I have two 10" RF Punch 1s I got for $90 for a pair and a Hifonics amp I got for $130 and it sounds like tht is exactly what you want. Clean and crisp but not super loud.

No need for a W6 or W7 if you dont want it loud.

If you want car audio, PM me if you are serious. I used to compete and have numerous tropheys from SPL and SQ. JL is overpriced garbage. I can have you doing 145+ db for half the price.

I had a Resonant Engineering XXX 12 and Resonant Engineering RE 35.1 LE doing 145db on termlab in the trunk of my beretta. Box was 3 cubes after displacment tuned to 33hz. I had an Alpine 7895 at the time with Crossfire P1C4 comps and MA Audio 6x9s which i bought because didnt feel like spending much money. Who needs rear fill anyways.
