at least u have something that can even spin tires from 1st to 2nd and can wake up people in the middle of the night

OK, a Cobra is a little much (money/car quality wise) for somone my age, (which I've realized so I'm not TOO bummed about not getting it)...but a sprayed ls1 wouldnt have been..I mean cmon slappy..you lost to a lexus...he beat you in a race...while riding in comfort

its not like a lot of other cars have it easy either, my cousin has an evo 8 with beefed up internals and is running a full 23 pounds of boost and makes 330 at all four wheels... and my bro is running just over 6lbs unintercooled and is making 365 at the wheels. w00t
In the end to me... being 17, doesnt really matter what i drive... i can't see myself driving anything else, i have no desire to drive an F-body sitting in one. Try it out...

lol...evo 8 is a BAD comparison...those cars cost ALOT of money for LITTLE power...and even evo 7's are still expensive
and I have sat/rode in f-bodies..i didn't really care about the interior/exterior...when on the stock engine, tranny, rear...it nearly broke my neck

you are a 17 year old highschool student. why dont you worry about a 25k 400hp sports car when you have your life on track and when you can afford it. Ill tell you right now, you CANT afford that car unless someone else is for you.

I got my mustang, i busted my *** to get to the point where i could get this car, but a HOUSE and BILLS and just about everything else was a lot higher on my priority list. I appreciate the hell out of my car and if i see some kid driving around an SRT-4 with his hat on sideways thinking he is so cool cause his car is faster talkin ****, well, he may have a faster car but chances are that is the nicest car he will ever have and he is probably gonna total it or destroy the engine cause he doesent appreciate it. Spending all his time and energy on the car probably means he aint gonna be doing **** for his future, so his car may be faster but so far not only do i have a nice car but i have been kicking *** at life in general. in 5 years all he is gonna have is the memory of that car and a **** job serving me at the drive through. Great post; very well thought out and great points made. The youth of today WANT EVERYHTING NOW regardless of what it is. They need to get their priorities in order and focus on the long term solution and not short term WANTS. I am not that old either as I just turned 36 so I can relate to the folks that are even in their late teens as my age is not alot older then you all are. Not to mention I have 2 22yr olds working for me making good money at 60k a year plus bonus so that is what you all need to be aiming for....a CAREER!!!

I personally think you don't appreciate what you got. Think about it like this, there are guys out there your age that have nice cars (you included) BUT THEY pay 3-4-500 a month for them. You got lucky and don't have to pay s**t for yours. you got an 01GT FREE AND CLEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are exactly right, and so is MattJ, and I am taking the same stance. Jon, dont get so caught up in the horsepower aspect. Take the initiative here, if you REALLY want more horsepower, either a) buy nitrous, or b) SELL YOUR CAR AND BUY A DAMN LS1. Im glad you realize the cobra was a bad idea, but dont get too caught up in the car thing. BUY A F@#%^@! house! LOL You can probably sell your car and get right in a T/a if you want to, so look around, and quit complaining on my website (J/K shambles)

You are exactly right, and so is MattJ, and I am taking the same stance. Jon, dont get so caught up in the horsepower aspect. With about $1,600 I can get a heads and cam package for my car that will put out 410rwhp - 430rwhp. Compare that to the $4,000 you have to spend to hit that level using a blower or the use of nitrous and you wouldn't even be safe with that kind of power on a GT block and internals. Not to mention the LT1 and LS1 internals are good to about 600hp-700hp.
I'm in no way biased and but I have come to realize that if you want power cheaply then you need to go the pushrod world.

To be honest jon, i kinda feel like you. I've spent more money than you on my car and it still slow, but over time i've learned to love my car as i have alot of history with her! She looks good and can haul some ***...I'm thinking of keeping my stang, as i only have a about 13 more payments left...

badfish, if srt4's are beating you then you really need to learn to drive... i beat modded srt4's before i even had my 4.10's. true, you're at a higher altitude so you have to deal with thinner air while they dont because of the turbo but it shouldnt make that big of a difference.
no offense to nitrous users but i say screw nitrous because its not always there when you need it and sometimes when you happen uppon a chance race you arent ready to race because you still have to open the bottle and arm the system. find a good used blower and you'll be happy for a long time. or look into the frpp supercharger, its positive displacement and is sure to be a lot more fun.
dont worry about the cobra because you have plenty of time left in life to get a cobra. just stick with your car and add a blower. you have a much nicer car right now than if you traded in for an f-body. just make it faster with forced induction.
