Default Buying a car on ebay...

I am lookin to get a 1999 Mustang Cobra and have been looking through classifeds and trade mags and all that but the other day I searched it on ebay and found that they were a lot cheaper...only thing is..well its ebay lol. What do you guys think about finding a car on ebay, then going to look at it? I heard something about cars from Katrina being sold or whatever. How much do you think a used, stock 1999 Mustang Cobra privite party would cost?

If it is close, I would check it out before you bid. You probably can work out a deal with the guy off ebay so he doesnt have to pay the fees and he will get cash that day.

If it is on the Gulf Coast (Louisianna, Miss, Alabama) I would be very careful. But I agree if it is close, I would take the time to go check it out. I would never buy a car off ebay without seeing it or driving it. It is very easy to hide things with pictures. I would buy it if it was from a well known dealership but just be careful with private parties.

Good advice.

I agree, be cautious, I wouldnt buy a car I couldnt look at in person, just too much risk IMO.

I sold my Lexus because some couple found it on E-Bay.

Worked fine for me!

Personally, Id skip the 99 all together. Too many problems, but Id imagine one would go for between 13-16k.

I bought my car, the one pictured in my avatar, off ebay from a guy in pennsylvania, a good 7 hour drive from Raleigh, NC. We struck out one morning, drove up, made the deal, and were back home around midnight (We got delayed when the other car we drove up there picked up a nail). I had no problems at all. The guy was very up front about everything and I talked with him a couple of times over the phone before going up. We did actually deal outside of eBay because the person who actually won the auction did not follow through. I have no regrets.
