Default Valve Springs

ive seen other forums that people say by upgrading the valve springs (and not cams) will give u more horse power....is this true or is it complete bs?

ps. im talking about the comp cam springs too

Why would you imo, just seems like a waste of time and effort if you dont do the cams while you are in there. I really dont think youll gain anything impressive.

Someone did a test but I can't find the article.I believe they got about 8 RWHP just by changing springs.They went from stock springs to the Comp Cams beehive springs.CompCams say that their new spring design has less seat pressure with better valve control due to the harmonic dampening effect of the specially shaped wire(oval I think).This increase was from being able to reduce the frictional losses created by the cam lifters riding on the cam lobes.
